Saw this plane taxiing in one of the AirshowStuff landing videos from OSH, and then this pic popped up on facebook.

Anyone know the backstory? The only rational thing I can think of is that they had a bad main strut/seal that they couldn't get fixed there, so they let the pressure out of the other side and pumped up the nose strut to ensure good prop clearance.

Back in the early seventies I was driving a fuel truck at the Flying Country club at RHV, they had a Cherokee six in the fleet. I saw it taxi in more than once with tail tie down occasionally hitting the taxiway coming in.

That "thing" taxied behind my camping row and I watched it whack the tail at least 5 times. Some of these strikes were actually quite violent!

He did this on purpose? Maybe he was taking inspiration from the Vought Cutlass?

That's the smallest N number I've ever seen.

Ahhh yes, the age old debate.

Is it a Cali Lean or a Carolina Squat?

I only saw the pilot's rental car driving around.

I'm not even sure it's legal. The picture looks photoshopped, doesn't it? But that's the way it is in real life.

Here's the youtube video. It makes its appearance at 3:15. It occurred to me that the pilot really should be doing S turns to see ahead.

It looks like he has someone sitting in the baggage compartment.

I found the registration, N877DS, somebody included the picture on flightaware of the plane dragging its tail on the ground.

I don't know how airworthy it is with two collapsed main struts.
