I certainly like slower and closer...the Canadian Snowbirds in their Tutors are my favorite Jet Team act. No frantic search for the earplugs either.

Watching the A-10 airshow I have always wondered why the fuselage wing incidence angles make it fly nose up in level flight.
For a long strafe using the gun seems like more wing incidence angle would bring the nose down a bit for longer time on target and less of a violent pull pitch maneuver at the end of a gun pass. Doesn’t the hard pitch bleed off a bunch of speed? Did airplanes with 20mm cannons have elevation built in when setting up the guns?
Same if you look underneath at the A-10 airfoil with a large trailing edge cusp. More lift per wing area sq ft but so much pitching moment that the tail works hard and makes a lot more drag. Kind of like the old GAW GA airfoils. Ok on a sailplane with narrow chord but not a fat wide chord wing. But engineers must have had their reasons..
I loved the performance at Airventure a few years ago where they flew large aerobatics like an RC pattern airplane or WWII fighter with the A-10. Really nice change and it showed the airplane a lot better.

Really nice change and it showed the airplane a lot better. The gun in the A-10 is canted down 41 Mils and aligned so that the recoil of the firing barrel is through the center of gravity of the aircraft (that is why the gun is offset). The gun in the F-15 is canted up 15 mils so that they don't have to pull as much lead when shooting another airplane.

Thanks Eric, Do you know about the hard pitch up at the end of a pass where they over rotate pitch up then pitch down again to climb. Is this to counter ground fire aim or another reason? I don’t remember seeing this in old demos is it a capability of the new wings?

That's the pilot maneuvering the airplane to avoid getting shot/hitting the ground. You don't want to fly in a straight line very long in combat. It is also ingrained at the range. The range officer sits in a tower on the 2,000 ft line from the strafe rags. You have to be pulled up before you reach that line or the range officer will foul you. Do that twice and he will send you home.

Grey hawg, camo'd hawg. Grey from the cockpit, camo'd from the ground shots. Different sun angles, too. Good vid, none the less.
