I have to say, I've really enjoyed chatting with people here about aviation topics such as ATC, avionics, and flying IFR.

Mine is a 1998 Mooney Bravo, which I have owned for 23 years. It has a Lycoming TIO-540A1FB 6-cyl turbocharged engine that makes 270HP at 38" and 2575RPM. I have also owned a PC-12 and I am a partner in a T-6G based in Palo Alto. I also fly gliders and helicopters.

personally, I use a "barbell" strategy: 80% of my non-RE assets in fairly conservative stuff to preserve capital, and 20% in high-yield investments to goose returns

yes, I'm a voracious reader, and in everything I do, I like to keep pushing the envelope in training. For example, I got ASES when I was in Alaska, in 7 hours, but have never flown a seaplane since. It was great fun, and I learned a lot, esp glassy water landings. I am also a trimix certified scuba diver (O2 + N + He), but I have never done any trimix diving past my certification. Later this month, I'm doing a 10-day advanced sailing certfication course (ASA 104,105,106 for the sailors among us), even though I don't intend to do much blue-water or night-time saling.

How many hours in your Bravo? # of engines over the years? What altitudes do you usually fly? Panel set up today? Pics? Glad to have you here. I’m thinking your going to start a fight though about “size”, but what’s new with pilots…

1. Cramped? No the Mooney long bodies are wider than the Bo and lots of room for legs. The truthful reality is ALL planes are tight.
2. Why so hard to land? No not so hard. After you master it you can easily transition to flying almost any other plane. Energy management is key. (Tail wheels add a new twist but energy management is still key along with directional control.
3. IO550TN I don’t believe so unless above 14k or so. Perhaps Bravo engine can. Never tried that down low.

Question (1) I think dependent of your body type, size, flexibility, trip requirements etc. I’m usually 1-2 people and Mooney is very comfortable, fast, efficient and built stout.

why did they stick the tail on backwards?

It bcause the put the tail on backwards. It is not sur if it is coming or going

Probably about the prefect "personal" airplane. I used a 201 for my instrument ticket and flew a shiny new 231 all around the US and back and forth to Alaska back in the early 80's. Here is a picture of an after Christmas pre-heat on a ice runway I made where the Colville river flows into the Arctic Ocean. I don't remember the exact temp that day, probably -30 or -40 I'd guess.

I see it now lives in TX. I bet the present owner would be surprised to know some of the places that old gal has been...

My only Mooney flight was in a M20F and while I loved the control feel and the size was fine except my 29" Inseam had my face in the panel.

What Mooney's come with adjustable rudder pedals?

Is the factory open or closed for spares? Where do you get support?
