I know you’re an engineer as well, here’s the statement from Lee

“ Independent testing has proven CoolView aircraft windows will block 73% or more of the IR (Infrared Ray) or heat coming through the window, resulting in a much cooler cabin. This process is internal, within the aircraft window construction. It is not a process or external coating that will wear off or ever need to be reapplied.”

All I can tell you is, it works very very well and my sensors confirm it, it’s expensive, but worth it

Blocking is not the same as reflecting. You can paint an airplane black, and the aluminum skin will block 100% of the sun, but the plane will still get hot from the energy absorbed. The polarizers will heat up from the energy being absorbed.

Your polarizers will cool the cabin over leaving the windows open, but perhaps not quite as much as a light colored sunshade that reflects the energy back out.

You can see the film in this video of the storm window, not as clear as the windshield, that metallic film reflects the light back outward, effectively blocking it from entering the cabin

Polarizers won’t warp or damage with the coolview windows if left darkened on ramp, so that’s nice

Energy absorbed by the window can be fairly effectively transferred back to the environment. You can only put so many joules in a window before it spills heat outside the airplane

Energy that passes through the window and is absorbed by the couch is going to stay in the fuselage a lot longer
