If you can swing the price tag on this one. Non-pressurized but turbo'd, much bigger than most piston 6 seaters. Standard AC, controller says 1358 lb useful load. The Piper Matrix was made with this mission in mind. only a couple hundred produced. Had one, was an amazing plane, but traded out for pressurization.

KA 90 let’s you ground cool before you even start the engines, you can get the cabin very comfortable before departure, no sweating involved

If you have a GPU otherwise your battery be dead very quickly.

Nice feature when you have it.

The turbine class airplanes with electric AC (aka "vapor cycle" or "Freon") have this feature. Rare to find it in piston class airplane that you can ground run it on external power.

for an aircraft that hauls 4 very comfortably and has turbo charging and known ice look at a PA 34 Seneca II or III. in my book for serious on time business travel, especially in the north, turbocharging and Known ice are a requirement.

the rear entry is very easy to get into and has a lot of room especially with 4 people in the aircraft 6 in a pinch with average people and little luggage.

Ticketed travel is your answer.

None of these are really capable of the mission and the budget won't buy the thing that can do the missions.

Round trip 200nm twice a week in those aircraft is a lot more costly than it looks. There's fuel which is pretty costly these days, but overhaul reserves and maintenance and other costs.

On the twins, that's engines x2. Those big TSIO's are 75k, + prop and stuff each side. Maintenance and reserves are easily $100 and hour, if not a lot more because it is an airplane and stuff breaks. Run the gas at 40gph and $7/g and you're basically looking at $400 an hour, and $1600 a week just to turn fuel into noise.

Then you pay a pilot, parking, database updates and so on.

And it is still a little airplane, that's not an airliner. If there's opportunity cost for missing a trip, you factor that in too.

Unless it is just something you love to do.

$350k won't buy you a used high performance single these days either.

At 200 nm, you can probably drive faster than the airlines. The airlines only win, and just barely, if you are going where they go non stop, *AND* their timing matches what you want.

Airlines are less reliable than GA.

Plus account for the higher chance you get communicable disease while traveling on an airliner.

This doesn't really work for me. I'm a 1.5 hour drive to the "ticketed travel airport" and then it just connects you to Atlanta. I'm 3 miles from a 5400' airport that sells no tickets.

Won’t kick on without GPU/Ext Power, or you can run it off one engine turning- usually the right engine so you can pax load- anyways, I was mostly providing a compelling reason to consider the 90 for his mission, it’s a very very nice perk to have the ground cooling ability, was a huge factor for me

for a 150 to 250 mile trip if you and your employees are worth much the Senica or other light, deiced, turbocharged twin can save a lot of time. at 1 to maybe 2 hours total elapsed time, depending on distance, it is a lot faster than any other non aircraft solution. my company used the aircraft (first the Senica and then the Aerostar) a lot and it is amazing how convenient it is especially with a charter pilot to make sure the aircraft is ready etc on both ends.

your time and your employees time is worth a lot. the benefit of getting everyone back home in time to tuck the kids in is a huge benefit to them.

many of the trips I took with my guys in my company aircraft I had the pro pilot do the work so the amount of time my guys and I spent dealing with flying duties was very low. you can pull up to the airport in the rented car and be in the air in 15 minutes if you have a pro pilot flying the aircraft.

This exactly what I'm looking at. There have been several meetings that we have put off due to baseball practice. With the right set up we can meet with the client in Destin and be back home in time to take infield. Currently that is 6.5 hours on the road.

For most trips of 150-200 miles, from where I live, I could beat the airline in a C150 and probably a J3 cub. A Barron could do it with the gear and flaps down.

For short notice business travel tickets generally START north of $1000 these days for ONE person. With 2-3 passengers, large piston single or a piston twin will be cheaper unless you are buying tickets well enough in advance.

Obviously, if you live two miles from a major hub airport and your destination are all near airline served airports things will be a little different. Even then, I don't see how you can get to any commercial airport, reliably get past TSA, board, and get off the ground before the GA plane has traveled 150-200 miles.

What about a Cessna 401a? This seems to be one heck of a deal when compared to the prices I see for the others that have been brought up.

Mission 1 works great with a bonanza

Yes he needs a baron for mission 2 but this is a classic GA opportunity

I’d suggest a cirrus (or rv10), which will do most of missions (except obviously the six person one). We’ve often had guys take the plane and the girls fly commercial and that works out well for everyone in my experience (except when they’re late and they usually drink enough it doesn’t matter).

Edited to add: those are great choices as it’s easy to qualify a pilot and you will be able to fly it essentially right off the bat. Once you get more comfortable, you could then consider a Navajo or other cabin class type ship (which is what you’ll need for 6 plus bags).

Tripp, for mission 1, what are the departure and destination locations, and how far are they from your airports?

Unfortunately, sometimes ground transportation kills the utility of air transportation.
