Quick fuel stop. I was the only plane on the ramp that didn't look like these others? Attachment: 1 (5).jpeg

GPH. Home of Central Air. They are a 135 freight operator. They were doing it nearly 40 years ago when I was flying the DC-3 hauling FedEx.

First pic would be Central's north ramp spares, next two pics are their active fleet on the south ramp @ Mosby, MO (KGPH). Formerly based @ Kansas City Downtown (KMKC). They started in 1974, used to be called 'Central Airlines', now better known as 'Central Air Southwest'. Very cool outfit. Definitely the neatest 135 piston twin company left. They also have a Lear 35. Only private Part 135 holder of a TKS deice STC ~ for those Commodes. In fact, they can put one on yours!! Most of their trips are scheduled like the best of the old school U.S. airmail runs. If they didn't pay like you were a 23 year old on your first 135 job, driving an OG VW beetle with an efficiency apartment... it would be a wonderful retirement job. Hint, hint, hint........ I'll be available in 9 months. ~ ME

OK. Didn't know they owned that STC. I thought that one belonged to CavAir. Let me stand corrected then, and say that Central was the FIRST to own a TKS STC for a fleet of their own piston twins. I can't keep up. ~ ME

Airnet has the STC for the FIKI version of TKS for the 210 - I got my last 210 done by them. They got it from a now defunct air freight company that developed it for a fleet of 210's they operated. Their name escapes me right now.
Cav Ice has the STC for the non FIKI version for the 210.

That outfit was Flight Express; they had a boatload of C-210s and a handful of Barons. They were bought/merged by Airnet… who’s now also gone bye bye.

Airnet Systems assets were bought from the receivership by Kalitta Charters. They still operate 11 Lears and a handful of 58s under the Airnet II banner.

Yep, I still hear Starcheck on the radio every now and then and I gotta wonder; what are they hauling since canceled checks are long gone? I wonder the same about the Central Air Commander runs that I see; they're not big enough to haul FedEx or UPS contract stuff... and then there's GTA Air (Big D) flying Baron 58s, A36s and C-402s around. What are they even hauling these days? Yes, it's true; my inner freight dog geek wonders about these things...

And blood samples for processing. Maybe that's the same thing as radioactive pharma?? Yeah, it's mostly medical related. The trucks that pickup/deliver the stuff from these ramps are generally unmarked - from my observations in several states. There's a company based in TN (Pathgroup) that does this too around the south, with late model B58's and e-a-r-l-y C402's. The tail # I've seen the most is N5690Z, but there's been several others. Every airplane is registered to a different company it seems, so they're probably mostly lease-backs. One 58 run goes: MQY-UZA-RYY-MQY-OLV-MQY. Starts about 6 pm and ends around 2 am. It's a pretty big deal these days... has taken over where the check-hauling left off. Thank goodness there's still something for these planes to do, and 'quality flying time' jobs for those in need. ~ ME
