Check with Ocean Aire at KMJX. They advertise that they maintain warbirds.

Where in the NE? The Warbird Factory at KALB maintains and repairs warbirds. https://hangar743.com/warbird-factory/518-633-1155 (Note that their site security certificate has expired, but you can still access the site.)

I cannot overstate how strongly I recommend Paul Redlich for a pre-buy. He knows these planes intimately and he’s an extra-ordinary mechanic and craftsman. He also flies the daylights out of them. He has personally flown 75ish of them in the US. For many years he owned a shop that almost exclusively maintained Texans.
I bought a T-6 21 months ago. It was represented as a very good plane, recent restoration, and in great shape. And it was. I had a pre-buy done by a very well-regarded Texan shop in the mid-west. They squawked a few things - only one item was worth getting a concession from the Seller.
I got the plane home - flew it six months - and then Paul came to our place and did a no-holds-barred inspection. Nothing major was found (because this plane really was very good) but he founds lots of little things to address. I brought him back this year to do the Annual in my shop again. It went very well. I simply don’t worry about my plane because he maintains it. And his day rate is entirely reasonable. He’ll come to you and train your mechanic in the subtleties of Texan maintenance if you choose.
If you can get Paul, do it.
He won the golden wrench at Osh for a P-40, he raced a Texan at Reno a couple fo years, and he’s the guy that is brought into Osh to present to Texan owners about Texan maintenance, and NWOC, too.
He lives in FL now but he’ll come to the Northeast if needed. And if you need a shop for him to work, he can use mine in Providence, RI.
Best wishes,
Zeke

Best wishes,
Zeke Thanks, Zeke. I've heard great things about Paul from multiple sources. Had a good conversation with him this morning and he's agreed to take a look at the airplane for us. All these airplanes have "history" and you just want to know what you're getting into beforehand, and it takes somebody who knows what to look for. Thanks to everyone who helped - on this thread and on PM.

CK,
Glad you guys got hooked up. And best of luck with this plane.
Get Paul into teaching mode and it’s off to the races. You’ll learn so much.
