Well my wife (who I can assure you is in fact a woman ) thought the pink looked ghastly. OTHO, she designs doomsday machines for Lockheed, so maybe she isn't typical. I love resurrecting old threads... Anyhoo I just did what even a year ago I thought was unthinkable.... I sold my Mustang and purchased a brand new Cirrus SR22 Turbo. My previous airplane was a Piaggio and a Mustang before that... what on earth did I do this for you ask? And why pay 1.1 MILLION dollars for the privilege? Simple. I love flying for flyings sake, I love the views at lower altitudes and I love being more involved in the lower altitudes of flying. I have been flying 48 years, been through 32 airplanes. Including the largest (777) to the smallest (Christen Eagle) and everything in between. Some owned and some for other companies.I have spent the last 33 years of my life mostly at the flight levels smug in my ground speed and weather topping ability. There was just one problem, a problem most high flying jet pilots know but wont admit. It's boring as hell once you've done it awhile. There is a reason most people close the shades on airliners... there is literally nothing to look at thats very interesting other than an occasional sunset or sunrise. Most of the time is dense crud overlying barely recognizable towns or just white clouds. About 6 months ago as I was making my normal milk run flight from Galveston to Dallas in my Mustang I noticed myself almost falling asleep from boredom even though it was a short 1 hour flight. I knew the altitudes (always FL230 with the first high controller, your cruise altitude with the next one,, I knew the frequencies, I new how to program the Garmin for the Arrival Routes,, you get the idea. It was literally mind numbing. As others know me from here I also have a 1958 Piper Tripacer that I restored and won Oshkosh with in2017. On a lark I flew the same plane over the same route (2 1/2 hours instead of 59 minutes!) and found that it was not only refreshing but also much more engaging. THIS was the flying I missed! I LIKE finding my way around a few storms, love seeing the green fields with cows and horses in them, like looking at the boats on the lakes! These are things that had faded from my memory with FL flying. So .... I sold the airplane. Because I could afford to buy a new Cirrus (and pocket a lot more money) with the Mustang sale I did.... why? BECAUSE I WANTED NEW! I dont give a damn about going faster, or higher, or pressurized. My home is at 8500 feet and with it an airplane with exceptional reliability and exceptional company supporting it and a huge maintenance base on the field that will pay for all my maintenance under warranty. I can now fly my milk run flight in just 30 minutes longer for 1/6 the cost and enjoy it more. I am beginning to see why they term it "The Cirrus Life". So thats my story. My beautiful new bird will take me anywhere I want to go, just lower, slower and a bit more relaxed. In the end (to my great surprise as I always thought bigger and faster and higher was better) it fits my life well. Cheers !

Number one thing to remind yourself every time you head to the airport...
We do this, because it's fun. When it ceases to be fun, then it's time to take up another expensive hobby.

There are 80 G6 Turbo for sale on Controller. Yesterday there were 76. Two days ago… 72. Most are are least mid 700s to mid 800s. I don’t remember seeing that much inventory ever. I wonder what the more current interests rates are for aircraft purchase.

I like to fly pretty much anything. When I have to be somewhere, sure love the turbine, but enjoy flying my buddies DA40 almost as much as the M600. Definitely feel more connected to the air, and can feel the impact of each bug that hits the wing . All planes are good, they just have different personalities. The Cirrus is a nice combination of cross country capability and low and slow flying. DA40, Life at 140 knots on 8.9gph. Attachment: IMG_2624.jpeg

Wow Mark, you change airplanes more often than I change socks! I went to the 501 from an SR22 and I'll never go back. That being said, I understand the itch you were trying to scratch. Most of jet flying is pushing buttons.
I decided to follow Hangen's path and am working on my rotor add-on. Now THAT is some real flying. It's challenging and incredibly rewarding when done well. So I think for me that is the perfect combo - jet for traveling, rotor for flying.

As to your note you are correct. I tend to get bored easily. BTW after I made that long ass post I ended up backing out and buying the lowest time -less than 400 hrs- TTx in the world. Not only did it hand fly better it has the G2000 which I love. (The savings of over 400K didn't hurt either) My second TTx. Hopefully this will scratch the itch for awhile lol. I do love being able to see the world again from my seat.... and the fuel bills. And don't ever say never lol... Best! Mark
