Out of respect for privacy I will let the new owner come out himself but we delivered this bird last Monday and he got his type rating today. I’m super impressed! He came put of a P Baron. Enjoy the ride and welcome to the club!

Congratulations to the new Citation owner/pilot. As good as a P-Baron is, he'll be safer flying an easy handling Transport Category jet.

Technically, the 501SP isn't transport category (part 25). It is part 23.

I mistook it for a Part 25 Citation ll without counting windows. No Citation groupie worth his salt could miss that. :D , but still is a safer airplane than a piston prop plane.

well, some citation II’s are also Part 23. To be clear, the 501sp (Citation I-SP) and 551sp (Citation II-SP) share the same TCDS (A27CE) on a part 23 cert basis. This while the 500 (Citation I), 550 (Citation II) as well as S550 552 560 560XL are all TCDS (A22CE) part 25 cert basis.
[/nerd_alert]

Not that it makes one safer than the other…but in the interest of nitpicking :)

A company I flew for had a Citation 501 and a Lear 35. I flew right seat in the Citation and left seat in the Lear. I always felt safer in the Lear, not having to worry about bird strikes from the rear in the Citation. :D

At least I don't have to declare a fuel emergency at the hold short line....
