I had watched the sale ad and it disappeared quickly. I was happy for him. Unfortunately, I pursued Kathryn’s Report and found this. Very vague, but it happened on 12/2. What’s odd is the link doesn’t show the correct tail # in the link, but it shows the 444DT info in the article. I hope it’s an incorrect report. Unfortunately, Flightaware has a flight that lines up. Does anybody know any details? http://www.kathrynsreport.com/2021/12/b ... ident.html

Springdale, AR was his home base. His most recent video was posted 11/27, based on a flight to College Station in early November for BBQ (it's a good video). A bunch of local flights around Springdale plus a couple trips to Texas based on FlightAware data. I'm not sure if this is him or a new owner but it's possible that this accident happened before the sale given how short the ad duration actually was and that it was posted during the accident time frame.
Registration is to an entity in Arizona, but if you follow his channel, that's where he lived until quite recently before moving to Arkansas.
So I think the betting money is that it was him and not a new owner. Glad there were no injuries!

I flew yesterday to 94K yesterday to pick up a 9-week old puppy with my family. I have been a long time follower of the “Malibu Flyer” channel and have truly enjoyed discovering the capabilities of the PA46. I was sad find 444DT banged up on the ramp, lying on a set of car tires. The RH gear strut was sheared, but hard to tell if that was the source the problem, or the result of another series of events.

I am surprised! I just looked at the PA46 nose gear assembly pic with the steering arm shown. A single lock nut secures it on the engine mount and a locknut is also used to secure the linkage to the arm. Surprises me that a locknut is used and not a cotter pin. Usually in critical locknut applications a new nut is used each time since the locking portion can wear out. Wonder if he left a nut off or replaced it with a non-locking nut?

That does not sound like permitted owner maintenance to me. BWDIK?
