I love this guys YouTube channel.. very professional and just a highly capable machine. Just saw this posted today. I constantly lust over PA46's. Unfortunately they are out of my price range for now  also 50% of my flying or more is just hamburger runs and Sunday morning flying around. I don't think your supposed to do that kind of flying in these... For those of you that may be in the market... This is the finest Continetal powered Malibu I've ever seen. I can't help but wonder what he is upgrading to?? Maybe he will rebrand his YouTube channel as "M600 Flyer" ???

I can’t help with the price range, but anything you do in an A36 you can do in a Malibu

Well, not *anything*. You can't fly a Bonanza at FL190 without sucking on oxygen.

You can dump the cabin, put on the mask and fly your Malibu at FL190. The only thing stopping you is common sense.

Yeah this would be a giant leap in capability compared to my NA F33A. I can see how it wouldn't be as much coming from a TN36 but pressurization just seems like such a gamechanger in every way. I have occasionally taken my NA F33A up to 15500 with my woman on board on long trips to grab a good tailwind and she just hates the cannula. I can't really blame here either. They just simply aren't comfortable. For as high as this thing is priced it really doesn't seem like it's that out of this world either In this market. The paint and interior are close to 10. The avionics....? Is there really anything you can put in better or improve? And then a low time engine upgraded to the 550!? I feel like a TN A36 of this vintage upgraded to this level would be pushing 400k plus. And the TN36 comes non pressurized, most likely without the de-icing capability of this and not nearly the amount of back seat space for the passengers. Wish money grew on trees.

Oh man he loved that airplane, I wonder why he is selling. I hope he is upgrading and not having to cut costs

Everything is expensive right now! Not that long ago, 550k was almost enough for a meridian.

What kind of operating cost increase would you be looking at if jumping from an NA A36 to a Malibu like this? I'm guessing insurance goes up because of pressurization? How much does an annual tend to cost? Fuel burn is a few gallons more per hour? Hangar has to accommodate a 42' wingspan. Are there components on the plane that need to be planned for replacement on a regular basis?

Going to have a little hangar rash if you try to fit a Malibu into a 42 foot hanger ;-). Seriously 43 foot wingspan.

Sounds like I'd want at least 45 feet wide then?

Definitely makes more sense to have the Malibu than the tn 36. When I sell my F33a I plan to get a 550 powered Malibu.

I sold him that plane! He repainted and put in new panel and eventually redid the engine. Knowing what he put in it dollar wise his price is not bad.

It’s the best model Malibu out there. I flew it for 600 or so hours. Will post but somewhere on BT I detail opex. Iirc it was less than 50k for 200ish hours.

Outside of hangar, which is more due to size, it’s the same cost to run as a turbo cirrus or turbo bonanza.

Unreal personal airliner though. I flew all over the country in it. Avg 192kt groundspeed over my ownership. Ability to fly high with tailwinds and low with headwinds really improves groundspeed. This particular plane has an incredible useful load and will carry 150g of fuel if you tip up wings while fueling. I did myrtle beach to Denver multiple times non stop into the wind. 8hrs endurance was no problem.

People who fly a turbo cirrus instead of this cause me to scratch my head. This is bigger, quieter, goes farther, carries more and glides better, and costs the same to own. Only advantages to cirrus are small hangar and chute, however, there have been no fatalities due to engine loss in pa46 in a looooong time. Safety stats on pa46 much better than cirrus.

Edit: here is the post on my costs running this exact plane. 45k for 190hours.
