On several occasions over the last few years, I have seen a single engine, high wing airplane loitering over large gatherings: football and baseball games. The last time was at the Alabama/Ole Miss game in Tuscaloosa. It flies a square pattern maybe a mile on each side around the field just high enough that identification is difficult.
Like I said, it is high wing with fairly narrow chords to both the wing and horizontal stabilizer and a pod under the left wing. Definitely a piston and of moderate power, 200-250 HP, I'm guessing. Speed is minimal, perhaps 100-120.
What is it?
Jg Someone I follow on Instagram posted a pic of this Helio Courier N18JC parked at BHM (Birmingham, AL) today. Could this be the plane you were looking for?

My neighbor operates a Wilga out of Zephryhills (ZPH) for camera work. N424HD. N- number is blocked on Flightaware. I haven’t seen him lately, it flies all over the country. O-540 powered rather than the PZL radial. Likely him.

My immediate thought was relay for tv coverage of the game. Cheaper than a chopper.

Again, camera feed for media networks. The customer(s) don't necessarily broadcast the feed every time.

Ed, If you say so. Kind of like a cheapo, cheapo Goodyear blimp. I'm satisfied none the less. Jg

He has been trying to enlist me to fly for him (backup for his only pilot). Would like to fly the Wilga (just because I have never flown one and would like to add it to my list of interesting aircraft!) but I am not that excited about spending long weekends away from home cruising around a stadium or golf course at 45 knots at 1500’. But definitely a cheaper alternative than a Goodyear blimp. My guess is though that 5 years from now all this will be covered by drones!!

Drones maybe one day, camera and telemetry gear weight is still considerable.
