In late 1973 I had finally aged adequately to to be able to get my ATP. I was back gainfully employed by the infamous Tricon International Airlines at DAL upon returning home to my TXAng KC-97 unit from Air Force UPT in Del Rio "by the sea". We had 3 Cherokee 6's, 12 Twin Beeches and 2 DC-3's. I took my ATP and DC-3 type rating ride in N148D (an old Delta airplane) with FAA inspector Marcus Belcher.
I flew freight there until offered a much more lucrative and gentlemanly position with Mustang Aviation at DAL. Mustang sent me to Kingston, Jamaican where I flew Captain on a DC-3 that had walk on and off human freight between Kingston, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Port Antonio. That was a fun time! Did I say that was a fun time?
I'm also a Vintage Examiner in the DC-3 and DC-3TP. With turbines it is an amazing beast.
