Launch is in just over two hours. If you haven’t followed the story, check out the documentary series on Netflix. These four have lived an amazing adventure just getting ready, and now they are about to fly to orbit. Oh how I’d love to go with them.

SpaceX has a live feed on YouTube running already if you want to tune in.

This makes Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic look silly and pointless.

And for what it’s worth, it is is inspiring. My wife and kids were all glued to the launch, and then started to watch the Netflix documentary Countdown.

Yes, for me the inspiration comes from what Space X’s engineers and Musk have accomplished.

Cant really afford first class and I don’t see any economy seating. Guess I’ll have to wait until space-A Nonrev is available.

That’s kinda like saying a Gulfstream G650 makes a 172 look “silly and pointless”.

There’s a small difference in price between a 3 day orbital mission and a seat on a sub orbital shot.

I felt a bit bad for Bezos, with all the flack he took for his "Thank you to all Amazon employees and customers for paying for this" line. At least Bezos provided a useful service that people wanted to use - the guy funding this flight made his money sitting as a middle man siphoning off money from credit card payments.

Great to see the continued development of space flight, though, and this guy certainly managed his PR well with the St Jude funding and the choice of his other 3 passengers. Good on him.

All NASA launches were fully automated too, from Freedom 7 all the way up to Discovery's last flight.

Oh please.

At what, seventeen years of age he invented the credit card point of sale terminals that every one of us has used ever since. I never knew who to thank for that convenience. This guy is awesome on every level I've seen.

He certainly isn't spending the bulk of his time filing lawsuits to slow down his competition because he can't compete... Jeff who?

If you are going to space it should be actually in orbit. Virgin is rehashing what we did with the X15 70ish years ago. None of the technology of Bezos and Virgin is inspiring to me at all. I saw Space X Starbase last weekend in Boca Chica. It was like a scene out of a sci fi movie to see what was going on. The road is right beside the two facilities. Rockets lined up 200 yards from the road. Families at the beach and turn around and there is the launchpad to go to Mars.

Not quite sure why you feel the need to take a shot at Jared and his company’s business model.

And FYI, he’s done pretty well in the aviation arena as well.

Jared is a great friend. I’ve flown with him for many years. He has, hands down, the biggest heart of all. Every trip we took, even just him and I, he would stop and hand out $20 bills to homeless at traffic lights etc. He honestly believes that he’s been lucky and wants to give back. He’s done that many times over in regards to aviation opportunities by sharing aviation in various facets. The jet team was devoted to Make A Wish. I was (am) a nobody and he gave me incredible aviation opportunities simply because he had a passion for people and sharing aviation. He’s incredibly smart and aviation isn’t cheap. He means what he says.

No he didn’t, he streamlined the process and drastically reduced the paperwork and criteria needed to setup a merchant account, he went after the hot dog stands and mall kiosks and small time vendor business the big card processors were not equipped to handle

I had a merchant account back in the early 2000’s, the vetting and bank accounts and long contracts and equipment leases were difficult and cumbersome; took 4-6 weeks to get my account ready to process, his system was under a week

He didn’t invent the mouse trap or even build a better mouse trap, he packaged the mouse trap for mass distribution
