I do not know John’s better half but based on the occasional facts he shares about her I think we can conclude she is smart, well educated and insightful. Probably has acquired considerable wisdom through her years with John. Bottom line, if a woman like that really wanted a Cirrus Jet she would have one. Hopefully she would make John her first choice for PIC.

And John, if you really want a Cirrus Jet, just tell her you forbid her to get one.

Karen would no more write the check for a three million dollar airplane than she would start selling vacuum cleaners door to door. In 1976, she received the Harry Rudick award for outstanding tax student at NYU law. She finished first in her class of course. Thirty six years later, John Jr. received the same award.

Most of what she has learned, she did not learn from me. :peace:

From Jan->Oct last year, I had one cold call about my plane.

I had a few at the end of last year as people hunted for depreciation.

I've had three in the last 10 days.

Did I miss a memo?

May or may not be related, but crypto is going back up.

I doubt that's it. It was higher than the current levels from Dec 2020 through Nov 2022, and calls didn't come in at this rate during that time.

Maybe the Southwest Airlines meltdown and then the FAA NOTAM disaster had something to do with it?

JGG - I would love to see you all fly that Vision Jet into KJYO!
Tony - Outside of the G-V, my favorite rocketship is the Avanti. At my size I never used the potty. I wish AvantAir would have kept making me money.

The best part of the G series is being able to stand up and walk back to the bathroom. The option to fix something to eat is also a plus.
Little airplane = goes short distance and comes home soon.
Big airplane = goes a long way and doesn’t come home soon.

But you can fly it yourself and you can afford to do so more easily.

By the standards of almost everyone on BT, you have a big airplane that goes a long way.

Agreed.

And yet, it costs less than the average house in San Jose, CA.

It is all about priorities and optimizing performance for the dollar.

I guarantee it’s got a bigger operating budget than the average house though.

Now when you include CA and federal taxes on the salary you need for that CA house.

A $300K silicon valley salary is about, what, $150K in taxes?

On just $300k? Probably more like $90k/30% effective (assuming married). You'd need around $5m annual to reach 50% effective tax rate.

CA property also has the benefit (for better or worse) that your property taxes are mostly locked in.

Seems you'd hit that way sooner.

Top federal rate is 35% for $300K single. CA income tax is 9.3% for $300K. That's 44.3%. San Jose sales tax rate is 9.38%, so you get taxed when you spend it. Then there is property tax, gas tax, etc.

I could easily see 50% of you money going to taxes (of all kinds, add them up) when you live in San Jose, CA.

That top rate will be on the last dollar you make, but I still bet you hit 50% earlier than $5M.
