Anyone know a company that can do these?

Perkins is not traveling due to Covid.

They might want to call their Web admin:

http://www.bennettsaircraftwindowservic ... ut-us.html

"We want to be the aircraft window repair facility for all your transparancy needs."
"Dedicated to auto repair and to serving you with quality & value."

The F7 button helps as does a quick read-through to realize that the auto shop template needs changed. It takes but a minute with even a text editor like Notepad or Pico or *shudder*, vi.

I am not smart enough for EMACS. I am too old and it’s too Gnu for me.

Bennett inspected my front windows on the 501sp about 2 weeks ago. The technician passed the windows. 24 hours later the owner, Bennett called back and said the windows weren't good and that he had no idea what his guy was thinking. Not knowing much about prism inspections at the time, I accepted the report, negotiated with the buyer and moved on. Two days ago the buyer told me that I needed to get a ferry permit to move the plane because another window shop that had seen the report threatened to call the FAA if we flew the plane because the buyer had decided not to use his shop! At that point I had the plane back at home base and asked the maintenance provider on the field to find an inspector to come do a prism inspection to determine the actual condition of my windows. The original report from Bennett showed 40 cracks, many next to each other. Take a guess how many cracks the 36 year retired United Airlines window inspector found. If you guessed zero you'd be right. I watched on the ladder with him go over the report hole by hole showing me every single one of them. Is this subjective I asked? Is there room for opinion? Nope, It's clear as day. I post this as a cautionary tale. When third parties get involved to do "pre-buy" inspections, many see it as license to steal. They assume the seller wants the plane sold and has already "built in" a reduction for discovered issues. This one shop nearly cost us $40k not to mention the needless destruction of the paint and perfectly good windows. When you hear about turbine aircraft being too costly, many times its because of issues just like this. Buyer flew away today in a perfect 501sp.

Know who you’re dealing with. Helps if you can smell a rat.

The deciding factor in weather the window is acceptable or not is the window having three consecutive cracks in a row. If you’ve got two in a row while it’s acceptable you can expect to replace that window in the next couple years.

The area were you see most of the cracking is in the upper outer corners and you might guess it’s directly above the nose gear. Front glass lasts about 15-20 years.

Update.

Bennett is starting tomorrow on my install. Purchased the glass from Perkins. Price was much less than Lee.

The guy from St Pete never returned my call.
