Inspired by Michael Tarver and in an effort to fulfill my own childhood (current) fantasy I have purchased a 1942 Widgeon and plan to fix it up as a flyable project over the next several years. I have successfully completed my AMES at waterwings at KEET in Alabama. Thank you Charles!
I look forward to learning the aircraft and becoming a full fledged member of the flying widgeon flock. I'll update to this thread as I go along, wish me luck.

What a really cool project! Best of luck getting her back on the water and in the air.

So pretty with the early hull line! McDermott with IO-470s?
Wishing you a solid airframe, and lots of fun to be had!

Thanks John! IO-470 yes
Dean Franklin conversion, from what I can tell so far I think it's a better conversion than the McDermott.

I flew the mighty Widgeon up in Alaska. It's ornery reputation is well deserved, but not unmanageable... All I need is more money...
