Nothing to add really, I just felt the need to post a video It does have the Edge fuel injection though. Edge puts out some quality stuff. https://youtu.be/KdQWIO1ohBw

This morning was unusually cool and pleasant for North Texas in July. I flew the Cub for two hours tooling around north of Fort Worth and just across the Red River into Oklahoma. It was a great morning of looking out the window, lots of maneuvering, with a couple of landings and touch and goes along the way.
My conclusion, any small taildragger would have been great. I can't say that 180 hp and 2,000 fpm climb is triple the fun of an old J-3 or Champ. Even a Cessna 140, a PA-16 Clipper or any other airplane on the opposite end of the price spectrum from the new Super Cubs clones (CC, Huskies, Legend, etc.) would have brought a similar smile. Some days, low and slow are the best combination.

Here are some cruise numbers I screen grabbed from Facebook today of the black Norden.
2,800ft, 113 MPH true at 5170 RPM and 33” of manifold pressure burning 6.0 GPH with an 80” 4 blade E-Props fixed pitch propeller. This is also with 29” Alaskan Airstreak tires. 20 MPG ain’t bad for 29’s.
With the way the propeller is pitched you could easily hit 120+mph above 8,500ft burning less than 7.5GPH at 5400 RPM and around 35” of manifold while keeping the engine in Eco mode.

Andrew, is that the same Zlin company that made the zlin 50 back in the day? They had awsome sheet metal work. Curious as to what fabric process they use (fabric type and weight etc). Very impressive plane

Very impressive plane I don’t think there is any connection to the Zlin of old but it would be interesting to hear exactly what the relationship by name is. With the black Norden it was covered in oratex for weight savings and the wing is all metal.

Hope to get it by the end of august…. Congrats on the plane! Have to ask though.. why put a 747 panel into a low and slow tail dragger?

Hardly a 747 panel - that would have had limited glass and probably Collins or Honeywell!!! Mostly, just because it is IFR certified and it is much easier to maintain a modern panel without concerns about component failures, etc. Plus, it will clean it up substantially and probably allow me to lower the panel height.
