https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EO5hGUQyKy0As a mechanic and pilot/instructor just trying to keep people flying and old airplanes in the air this hurts me to watch. I hate to give him the views if you look but it’s what is coming. Even my kids were ashamed to say that is what their generation wants to see.

In school, they threw food in the school cafeteria, or dusted the shavings from the pencil sharpener in places that made a mess for the rest of the school year. They borrow things and break them or don’t return them as adults. Not really the kind of people I tend towards. Nevertheless, with YouTube there’s a platform for a few of those kind of guys to exhibit themselves. People say that behavioral disorders in boys are over diagnosed and I generally agree. But here’s one mom who should’ve listened to the teacher and taken her son to the appropriate doctor.

It’s still registered. How long till he sells it as a project.
Wood spar hidden compression failures under the wing fittings from abuse.
Listening to what he says he has a little idea of airplanes. It’s all a macho act to get views of course. Cocky bastard is going to show us all how to do it and become an instructor. Yeah and make more money at it. Guess he is a genius.
I had a whole series of students show up with about the same mentality. Real jackasses. I finally just quit and shut the flight school down. Since then I have had more people show up asking about lessons and after talking to them for a few min I’m so happy to say, Sorry I don’t rent airplanes anymore. A few days ago I had a guy stop by and he was looking at the Stearman I had in the hangar. He walked around and then asked me how many engines it had?
At some point we will run out of local pilots without a school to bring in new faces and it’s been awfully quiet around the airport even on nice days. Nothing moving. Most annuals I do now in the shop the airplane flew less than 10 hours since last annual. Many of them I was the last to run the airplane after it’s last annual and they did not fly. 65 airplanes on the field and maybe 5 fly regularly. The rest just sit....
I find in a given day I talk to less and less people who are not just totally insane. I’m not sure if it’s drugs or just background but getting real weird around here in Northeast PA. Well weirder than normal anyway. Maybe I’m the odd one. Who knows.
