I hated watching that and found it infuriating! I was ready to rant off on here big time, BUT…. I watched a couple of his other videos…the guy has some mechanical talent, and chutzpah! Not that I condone any of this, but I sort of understand. A part of my youth was spent “creatively exploring” the limits of various machines, though nothing on this level https://youtu.be/ohxGA7fpfu0https://youtu.be/e9Yy5P6FUes

I can’t help but think the former owner would be sad if he saw this video. Heck, many of us appear to be with no formal connection to it.

Plane was staged. It was busted before he started.
The Hilux made me laugh out loud. I own a twenty year old variation. I once bent the frame going in little too fast down a canyon.
Love Toyota’s. I own 3.
Those getting righteous, remember we have pilots destroying Cirri and other models over the same 5 stupid pilot tricks for over 100 years ago. I would argue willful destruction is = or > better than incompetence.
His videos should be a Toyota advertisement. No one will use Crashtalk to sell airplanes. Believe me.
YMMV.

I don't know that it was staged, I mean, he definitely had control of both rudder & elevators, the engine wasn't running bad, wings looked straight, what was staged? Seems to me that the ailerons worked, maybe this kid bought it with free money from somewhere, as I doubt this was his Grandpa's plane, more like it was something he bought with money that didn't mean anything to him.
I've seen things (planes) I thought were worse, still fly.

YMMV. If you are a Toyota fan, do NOT watch Hilux Test #4, which I found stupidly entertaining. Then again I used to enjoy watching David Letterman throw watermelons and TV’s off of rooftops... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ljMVUZhC3Vo

Yeah, I'd say more "calculated" than staged - there's a similar plane around here listed for $15k. The one in the video seemed airworthy but did have an off airport landing/damage history, since repaired: https://planecrashmap.com/plane/ar/N43635/That's cheap enough that if you know a video will make $20-30k, it's a calculated profit (unfortunately). Very similar to the "will it blend?" videos, or the guy that thrashed a new TRX - the item is just a utility at the end of the day. He might be dumb...but he's also no dummy. I don't necessarily like it (or watch it), but it is what it is - this one is a bit more unfortunate though, as an old Taylorcraft is a bit more rare than the typical runout 2008 Silverado that he thrashes. I don't mind when someone breaks something (especially if runout and commodity) to learn, but didn't really see that here either - "old ragwing planes are light and fragile". Well, they could just burn $10,000 in bills to the same effect. Probably get some views and not have to haul the remains to a junkyard.
I will never admire anyone who destroys useful stuff for entertainment.

I will never admire anyone who destroys useful stuff for entertainment. The problem is he probably made $100k setting fire to $10k. It is estimated he makes around $2M a year destroying stuff.

He and TRW could (possibly) legally make a fortune setting stuff on fire!
