The F7F Tigercat has a similar look, I remember seeing Big Boss Man in the Reno-style air races at Tunica a few years ago. It just dwarfed the single engine fighters and the wake it threw must have been significant for anyone trying to pass. https://rwphotos.photoshelter.com/image ... HUXyozuTws

http://www.maam.org/p61/p61_rest.htmNumerous pictures of the P61 being restored by the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Reding Pa (KRDG). Hard to believe the progress they have made. Good web site, and an excellent restaurant in the terminal if you are up for a visit

My father was the project manager for the radar controlled gun at the radiation lab at MIT and did all the testing and such of the radar controlled machine gun on the p61 He would talk about those days. I do have some memorabilia some 16mm films etc. Any one have any ideas what museum would want the things I have.

I had a bunch of class books of my Grandfather's from his time as a USAAC/USAF T-6/T-28 instructor where had noted "Mig Kill", "Lost over Germany" etc. on the students names. The museum sent me a FedEx mailer to box them all up and ship them.

He was the Signal Corps electronics tech on the plane and often flew on test missions (I don't know about operationally). I'll try to find the pic. One add-on to the WWII history of my Dad. Seems he was made a Master Sergeant twice. And he got busted down for coming back off leave...a few days late. Twice! He said it was because he was just helping out a local. This lady wrote letters to my Dad for at least ten years afterward. Letters my mother (married in '48) always intercepted and delighted in reading to her bridge club! Ah to be 23 again eh?
