Revision A of SB-195 was published today by True Flight Aerospace (the current type certificate holder of the AA1 and AA5 series Grummans). This revision contains fairly significant updates to the SB that was (prematurely) published last week. The labor estimate was significantly reduced as a result. SB-195 is reportedly going to be part of an upcoming AD. The full text can be found here: https://trueflightaerospace.com/sb-195/

Edit: I should say that SB-195 affects all AA1 and AA5 models, the “main” part affects all AA1 models and the AA5 Traveler relating to a debonding issue.

My mechanic was looking at a Grumman for this and looked in some extra places with his long borescope. The nuts/nutplate on the back side of the elevator hinges were corroded to a frightening extent. If you’re doing this inspection, and your plane has spent much of its life outside at a tiedown.... have a look around the tail for corrosion too.
