Will it fly on one?

It probably will, though I don't know how high. I think his point, however, was that they never really have to worry about flying on only one engine.

Don't tri-jets have lower IFR takeoff minimums than singles or twins for Part 121, Part 125, Part 129, and Part 135 operations?

It will fly on one, on that really weird bad day :whiteflag:. There is a slight advantage to req. climb gradients and takeoff minimums, but it’s never helped in practice. We don’t put engine covers on for the reasons Kevin mentioned. Another benefit I forgot to add is a MGTOW of 70,000, or a reduced MGTOW of 48,500 (via placard) allowing ops into smaller airports than the G-whiz’s (who also have reduced MGTOW capabilities ~ 90k to 75k as I recall)

As an aside I would also like to know what the point of the single power lever is. I don't see a real advantage.

That’s the crux of it for me; there is a potential down side and no upside that I can see. Just because you can do it doesn’t mean you should.

A single power lever might have prevented that Gulfstream accident in Afghanistan where the crew shut down the good engine by mistake.

FIFY

and perhaps the logic in the new system would have helped. but there’s new failure modes being introduced as well.

So each engine has a generator, and one engine can provide enough bleed air for pressurization? What's the ceiling on one engine?

Yes electricity, pressurization and air conditioning would all work (at a reduced capacity). Ceiling would be 5-10k for most higher weights/temps, but leaving Florida in the summer you’d be watching out for boats! :cross:

I agree (but I think it was a Global?). There are probably many other reasons that it is better that are also applicable to the fighter, the military doesn't care so much about marketing. It needs to be better.

Of all the airplanes with DEF contamination that lost 2 engines this is the only one that landed with one running. :D That I know of.

You know of those because they landed with no engines running.

Several dozen aircraft have had DEF issues and landed with at least one engine operating. Seemed to be a lot of Beech 400s affected at one point (which, oddly enough, are noted for a peculiar dual engine failure weakness related to icing).
