I believe these two TFRs are related to CREW-1 Dragon returning from space. But why two landing zones? The west one is 5 minutes after the east one. Attachment: crew-1-landing-zones.png Also, why diamond instead of square or circular? Some reason for that outer shape? Mike C.

They'd have to decide which one about half an orbit before reentry since I don't think there is enough control left to change spot late in the process. It could also be a typo. Vessel "GO Navigator" is likely to be the recovery ship. Currently docked at Pensacola. The other possible recovery ship is GO Searcher at Cape Canaveral. Anybody who wants to know where the capsule is coming down needs only track GO Navigator's movements via AIS system. Didn't the shuttle have more than one landing area, so weather could be avoided if need be. This one, so close to the next, maybe so they could move recovery ships to an area clear of thunder storms, if needs must?

I recall NASA's G-II shooting ILS approaches into KSAV, picking up fuel, and then taking back off only to come down like a bat out of Hades into KSVN back in the 90s. It was like a mini airshow because it came in fast and you could stand on the sidewalk under the approach path or the departure path. They did it 5 or 6 times in the years I lived in Savannah. It was probably also coinciding when they were bringing it in for service. Occasionally their T-38s would be on the ramp at Signature or Savannah Aviation around the same time but I never saw them up with the G-II.

If there had been an emergency, NASA officials said, the private boats might have impeded recovery efforts. They added that there could have been poisonous fumes from the capsule that posed a risk to the boaters.
To avert such an outcome, the Coast Guard this time set up an 11.5-mile safety zone around splashdown site and chase away any interlopers.
