I was reminded that NASA spent millions on a zero-G pen, while the Ruskies used standard pencils.

Yeah, but they also had to spend millions on pencil sharpeners that captured all the graphite and sawdust.

Urban rumor. Fisher developed them on spec and then sold both to NASA and to Russia for like $5 each.
