It will be 2 years next week that I started this post. Well almost 300 hours later I’m thinking of moving from the Meridian to an M600! Anyone know of an early Off market M600?

Joe Shallbetter 2001 Meridian 1999 Husky I’m in the same boat. This is what I see on 50% of the trips I plan:

Have you looked at TBMs? Don’t know enough to be able to weigh differences.
. The TBM is a great airplane, my wife fell in love with the 960, we want one… we’re about $5M short so if anyone has any ideas… But, all joking aside, the TBM is a lot more airplane in every way, it much easier to get in the cockpit, even if you don’t have a pilot door. It’s bigger, much faster and the build quality is much better. The TBM market is up, as is everything, but not bad, they’ve always had a bit of a ceiling because of the Mustang. We helped clients acquire three TBM’s last year, a 700A that was in the low $1M’s, a 700C2 that was mid $1M’s and a 700C2 that was over $2M but pristine, it had a full Garmin panel with 600TXi’s and Garmin autopilot, new paint and interior and 100 hours since overhaul on the engine! One of these clients knew he wanted a TBM, we had acquired a Mustang for him a few years ago, he took advantage of the market and lowered his position quite a bit by going to the TBM. The other two were open to whatever made sense, one started out thinking Meridian but it wouldn’t do enough of his missions. The other was thinking King Air, but you can’t get much in todays market for $2M You have to be careful, there’s a lot to know about TBM’s, it is a lot more complex aircraft to own and maintain than a Piper. The maintenance cost are much higher and the schedule is more onerous. There are some mechanical concerns that need to be addressed pre-purchase, I would strongly recommend hiring someone to assist with the purchase, the “gotchas” on a TBM can be expensive. There’s several good folks that can help you, give me a call and I’ll explain what we do and what we charge, as well give you the other folks to consider using.

Main difference is the provision for FCU manual override I think?
Chris, don’t your -42s qualify for pratt’s “flat rate” overhaul deal? Is this just a marketing pitch? Says 310k or capped at 385k if LLP parts needed.

Maybe not what you want to hear, but if you pull the power lever back to 700 torque and fly at FL280, easily make that trip with IFR reserves. Flight time will be around 5 hours though, but no fuel stop.
