Is it just me, or is there nothing at all stopping his butt crack from taking some major abrasion from the rear wheel if he happens to slide back a little in the seat? Just looking at that made certain parts of me pucker up! :bugeye:

What a wild looking machine. Definitely a showcase for some serious engineering talent.

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately assumed it was about the Rotec-powered bikes shown here. Radial engines sound terrific on airplanes. Yeah, they don't sound so bad on bikes, either!

So he gets the heat from the engine right on his shins. Doesn't sound too comfortable to me. Oh, and he better not run over a bottle cap, he might scrape the undercarriage.

This is not about comfort or practicality any more than a custom chopper is. You do realize that, right?

Back in the '80s there was a guy that sliced the front two cylinders off a Merlin engine and put it in a cycle.

Corrected. Was in 91. It's out on Google. Looks kinda like the old Hesketh.

His knees double as CHT probes and the shins are for EGT

Solving the age old problem of how to spend a lot of money for an engine.....

...but it is pretty cool.

Avid motorcyclist since 1961. There isn't much I don't realize regarding motorcycles, some choices just make no sense to me (including this one).

BMW motorcycles with horizontally opposed engines had your toes right under the cylinder. Hell in the summer but great in the winter.

He did save some money by utilizing an O470 single mag engine from a military MD3 ground power unit. They are cheap and plentiful. This one was probably built under license by Rolls Royce. They came with a Zenith two barrel but Airboaters adapted Holley 4 barrels to them.
