Why shouldn’t we encourage potential pilots to find value and purpose in learning to fly?
Why should we be content with existing aircraft?
Why shouldn’t we strive for GA’s golden days to be in the future.
How can we expect anyone to invest in a pilot certificate if we spend all our time saying the best days are behind us?
If we want to know what’s killing GA, perhaps we should take a look in the mirror.

It depends on your definition of "better". All too often people make things expensive to build and difficult to maintain in favor of aesthetics.

Exactly. That is where I was going. GA helicopters are way to expensive to own and operate. I would rather have a more "capable", less expensive, practical helicopter that I could purchase and maintain for the same price as my M35 Bonanza than a new "sleek" design. That is why I own a Rotorway Exec 162F. I sacrifice the more capable requirement for more affordable.
Besides, I am way past the age of trying to impress the ladies.

The Jet Ranger came out in 1962. It looks almost as dated as a 1962 Caddy. Attachment: Cadillac.jpg

Does it cost more to make a good looking machine, or must we look ugly to prove that we’re being cost efficient? Your exec is a great looking helicopter, did you pay too much?

I did pay too much for an Experimental helicopter that makes the utility and insurance availability problematic. I agree GA can probably have both. But so far new helicopter designs have always targeted the GA top 2% who can and will support the beautiful sleek design. I would gladly pay for a certified GA helicopter without the bells, whistles, and sexy lines if it lowered the price point where we could get more people involved in the GA Helicopter world.
