I like it! Congratulations on completing it!

It's a test of perseverance, that's for sure. I'm ashamed to report that my Lancair took 27 years until the first flight. I hear a lot of homebuilders get divorced, but my wife supported me the entire time, and still is.

If you could hear my inflection, you'd see I'm not simmering or upset at all. I'm just tired of people who try and silence those with an alternate view of things. Not just here, but everywhere. We can talk about anything and everything, but some want to go on the offensive and shame those who don't see it their way. Rational conversation is dead unless you are in like minded company these days.

It's sad, really.

That’s pretty! Love the rudder.

My first impression was, "Wow. Nice paint, except the incessant need for RV owners to checkerboard the tail feather." I simply don't like the way it looks. I of course expect several smashes of the negative button for speaking the truth though. But I'd still say the same thing regardless.

I love checkerboard tail feathers. They are classic, beautiful and in good taste. This one is from f1934:

Because I don't like the tail paint, I have two choices; be silenced by peer pressure or say what I think and deal with the PC firing-sqaud. After all, it is assumed that because the OP posted it, he wants to show it off and see what people think.

Your attempt to be an interwebz bully still does not change my opinion of the tail paint. As I wrote, I like the paint job, but the tail is where I look and shake my head. If you cannot have a conversation about that, I simply feel bad for you. Seems many people today cannot have a conversation anymore without full aileron deflection. Its sad, really.

:deadhorse:

It's hard to believe you don't get it. Having an opinion is fine but always feeling free to express it is tactless. Some folks can't help themselves - they have Asperger's. Those who don't generally try to master social graces and generally follow the approach - especially in cases like this one - of "if you don't have something nice to say don't say anything".

No one is being an "interwebz" bully here, merely pointing out that it's not nice to disparage someone else's work - especially the culmination of 16 years of effort. Immediately taking offense, when you were the offender, is consistently graceless. It's not too late to apologize and reform the opinions being created.

You probably didn't mean to be offensive, just hit the submit button a little too quickly. It can all be fixed...

If my Baron went upside down I would checkerboard its tail too!

First, I think the paint is gorgeous.
Second, I’m curious. By your statement, does a checkerboard tail loosely indicate the ability to fly inverted?

Haters will be haters...

But wow.. It looks incredible.
Congratulation on finishing this project.
I am in awe of people that can complete a project like this... Building a plane. ;)
I know it's a kit and I know that a lot of people do it, and it's not a big deal...
But for not for me.

Nice job :bud:

Greatpaint job, too bad I was not supplying the masking tape at a "nice" markup.

Great job with the lay out.

Who's the hater here? The guy who trashed a beautiful paint job or those of us who found his comment inappropriate and without class?
