There was a thread not too long ago about the Piper Matrix and how they sold 100 of them just like that. I am thinking that the dealers bought them but I don't know how many are in the hands of pilots. There are 13 for sale on controller.

I tried looking up on the FAA database to see how many are registered to real people but couldnt' seem to get what I wanted out of it.

I count 86 here... and you can click on the state and see who owns them. There seem to be a lot sold, and several still in dealer hands.
if you go to FAA.gov then aircraft, then registration, then by make/model, and put in PA46R-350T you will get to the page I have linked.

Well, I hope they are selling the hell out of them... not because I'm a fan of them, but I like to see GA grow.

And there is a market for a plane like this.

However, the Matrix is not for me...IF I were interested, I'd just get a Navajo, which will do the same with a bunch more creature comfort and a lot less purchase price and not much more operating costs.

But, I'm happy with the Beechcraft......

I too Hope they sell non-stop. I'd love for them to sell so many of them, the economies of scale let the price drop and the used market grows. I want there to be so many of them that I can buy a 5year old model for less than the price of the avg. American house. :cross:
I'm all for more airplanes for sale for <$100,000.
I like the idea of the Matrix, and I especially like the idea of making more airplanes available to more people.
Not to go too Blue State like, but I think we need to spread the Aviation around.

Count, Pointercount.
Jane, you ignorant misguided slut.
You do make an excellent point. There is a lot that is nice about the "cover charge" of flying.
I just would have loved to have been able to afford to get into flying sooner in my career. I'm only 33 now, so I'm not that old, but I've been wanting to be where I am now years back.
I do like the Matrix, I've always liked the Malibu series, although I can barely get into the cockpit.
Those things really don't have all that much room. :bud:

Was that picture professionally taken? It has great composition--colored portions of the tail overlaying the lighter background of the hangar, the asphalt has been watered to reduce glare, the aircraft is properly framed, the lighting is great and from the proper angle, the owner has a decent pose, the background is only minimally distracting, etc. Nicely done.

I know what you mean Yves, I find the Malibu cockpit pretty tight for my 6' 1 " frame.

The Jetprop is sure fun to fly but very expensive to fly in Canada.

Will settle on a Baron 58 when I find the right one...

Jeff,

That pic looks a lot like the delivery pic they make of every new Jetprop and owner on delivery - used to be a fairly complete set on the jetprop website - have not looked lately but the hangar/composition looks similar.

Interesting, I didn't realize they do a photoshoot for you at the time of delivery. That makes the conversion much more cost effective. ;) ;)

Chester, I know this guy, he's from Belgium and he got this jetprop DLX, on this picture he is sitting on the wing. I know why, he's short. He likes his plane, because he fits in it. It's made for short people.

What photo? All I see is some dialogue saying something about the photo has been moved

Why, was it another one of your infamous "upskirt" shots again? :tape:

I have read that some owners are very, very happy with their Matrix (Matrices?).

Personally I have lusted for a Malibu since they first came out.

I think that pressurization, turbocharging and factory A/C are the "holy grail" of single engine piston aircraft. Most if not all have de-ice boots so out of the box you've got one very capable aircraft.

The Malibu had some issues early on and I am very curious to know if those that have been converted to TSIO-550's are doing any better.

If I had money to burn I'd find a 550 powered Malibu and try it. But I'd keep my A36 as a backup.

I am no fan of the big bore Lycomings. I am a great fan of TCM's 550 series engines although they still have their issues (lifters, anyone?).

I understand the Malibu Jet Prop conversion is very popular and almost 300 have been done to date.

As for the Matrix - I don't see it as having any advantages over a TAT TN Beech 36 series aircraft.

Here's what's appealing about the Matrix to the "layperson". Layperson=Someone who has never spent any time on BeechTalk :D

It LOOKS "cabin class". Though I think the cockpit affords me less room than my Bonanza.

I hate when people say they are scared to get into my Bo because it "LOOKS" like a little plane to the "layperson". I don't think these people would have the same reaction to the Matrix.

I liked the Malibu as well when they first came out. But then there was that pesky little problem with flying them ice and the wings falling off. I believe they lost their IMC rating for a while why the engineers figured out the problem of course its been a while since this and I could be mistakened.
