Just been notified that my aircraft insurance policy will not be renewed. I am assuming it is an age situation. I turn 80 in November and am very healthy. I've never had a claim/incident in 55 years of flying.
Is there anyone out there who has faced a similar situation? If so, how was it resolved/
Thanks,
R. C.

Roger,

Really feel for you. Why isn’t AOPA, EAA, etc. fighting this ageism problem instead of making feel good videos?

Best,

Tom

Recent threads have suggested contacting avemco. Best of luck.

Thank you for your replies.
I have in the past years been working with an aircraft insurance broker. They are the ones who informed me of the non-renewal decision. They also, at this point, did not offer any solution. I will query them tomorrow and will also phone Avemco as was suggested.

I was in the same situation. Avemco resolved it.

Many threads on this. I suspect that there is little that advocacy groups can do. Insurance companies make money by investing our premiums in bonds (which haven't been paying much) and by not paying out claims. There was a rash of high-dollar claims in recent years, and insurance companies are choosing to limit their exposure so they can continue to be profitable. Many companies are choosing to stop writing aviation policies altogether.

Three things to do:
1 - Contact AOPA. They are tracking this as well as talking to insurance companies.
2 - Contact Tom or one of the active brokers on here. They will tell you whether or not they can help.
3 - Contact Avemco
Years ago I had Avemco for renters insurance and they were reasonable. However, I was a much younger pup.
