Jedi11 is zipping by the Jersey Shore at 221kts.
Jedi11 - a Viper or a Hornet or Rapto at huge fuel costs?

Too slow for a fighter. Normal speed for that altitude would be at least 300 KIAS.

JEDI is a callsign for T-6 trainers from Pensacola. There could be someone else using that callsign as well but that speed would be about right for a T-6.

211kts really isn’t “zipping by”. It’s a brisk walk, at best.

If it’s the jersey shore, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was someone out of McGuire (perhaps a tanker) also using the Jedi callsign.

Yep, I just got back from there. Tons of "JEDI" T-6's

As far as T-6 out of NAS Pensacola, Jedi is the USAF squadron as Ben mentioned. (They fly primary navigator training or whatever the smurfs officially call it.) 1000', 200 knots, and just off the beach is a sweet spot for flying the T-6.

A lot of or all of the Navy trainers around Pensacola are stuffed into hangars this weekend (precaution for the tropical depression hitting the gulf coast today), but that's not to say none of the USAF birds escaped a few days ago and headed up north.

The baggage compartment would be pretty tight to try and fit a cooler with lobster inside along with two people's clothes for a weekend- but not impossible.

It could just as easily be a more local unit, as Dave mentioned.

Do you know what type a "Blue Knight" is? I was at Destin one time and the guy was doing landing practice. He flew the pattern >200 knots and I could smell the jet fuel.

I asked on the radio what it was and he replied "like a regular Knight but with more blue". It was night, so I couldn't see what it was exactly.

Might have been a Red Knight.. it was some color of Knight at any rate.

I don't know what that is, haven't heard it on the radio (or don't remember).

Sometimes google turns up who it is. There are plenty of planespotters who keep track of radio callsigns too.

If it weren't for the call sign, it could have been a Lancair Legacy.

You ship the clothes back.

I would ship the backseat occupant back.

I'd try real hard to go without the back seat occupant to begin with!
