Would have thought maybe Chuck or one of the other MMOPA frequenters would have posted this. So i will!! N524LT is shown as an M600 with a PT6A-52 engine. M700 320 kts?? Fun to think about and wonder what could be.

It's definitely hauling ass in some recent flight tracks - 400+ mph from Tulsa to Atlanta - but hard to make too much of that without wind information.

All they have to do is throw an auto ice door like tbm has and a ‘normal’ pt6 intake and the m600 goes TBM fast.

I always thought this was in the plan after they put the bigger wing on the m600.

Pa46 is such a great airframe. Nice to see Piper continuing to push it. Textron should take notes.

I am also a big fan of the Pa-46tp. My only complaints were the range.....which the 600 addressed.....and the cabin altitude. A 10k plus cabin altitude at 3 plus hours can take its toll.

Looking forward to seeing what they're cooking up. Could give the TBM940 a run for it's $$...

I was wondering what that "Director of Hyperbolic Marketing" job ad on Piper's website was all about. Now we know.

That much power on tap will do a lot. Can be used for speed and improved pressurization. the tanks were plenty generous for the M600. This engine will impact range, but a person can always slow down when it is needed. Very exciting.

TBM, I'm sort of wondering if they are going with the newer engine like the new PC12 has. Must be something in the works.

That implies non-pilots, so it must be a self-flying UAV, that costs the price of a Hyundai and runs on 87 Octane mogas.

*laughing*. There is a thread on MMOPA about this too. Us M600 drivers are very interested in this for obvious reasons. The aircraft in question is equipped with a PT6A-52 (not the 42A that both the current M600 and Meridian/M500 use). Piper had two aircraft registered with this engine - one had an engine fire at some point. Long suspected that something like this was in the works.

The -52 is a popular engine upgrade (e.g., Blackhawk) for the B200 also - maintains full torque to a higher altitude than the 42A. Results in less time to climb, better speed and range in that aircraft according to them (I have no personal knowledge of that however).

I don't know enough about this situation to know if Piper is finally abandoning the "always open" inertial separator that they currently implement and yes that would increase the speed. Interestingly, the flight aware tracks that I reviewed (not a complete review but it included the 4:30 am flight that is referenced on the video) showed that (1) none of the flights were about FL280 and (2) all were filed at 260 knots. So nothing about the FA tracks reveals a major performance leap but they could have been cagey about what they filed or maybe I just didn't look at the right flights.

In any case, as noted, the marketing manager should just come right right out and said "This airplane will cure COVID, reverse aging, make all men strong and all women beautiful, and impose immediate world peace." I mean, why be cagey?? :)

I guess we will see if they are going to replace the M600 or sell an M700 or some other model with this engine, whether it could be a retrofit, or whatever. I agree that if they are going to increase the service ceiling they will have to adjust the pressure controller but I don't find a 10000' cabin altitude to be a particular issue as I flew at that altitude all the time in my Cirrus. Still, a lower cabin altitude would be nice and it would be essential IMO if they are going to have this thing fly higher.

I don't imagine we will have to wait too long for the answers however - once you put this kind of video out, you can halt new M600 sales in their tracks without disclosure to prospective buyers. Even with NDAs, you can't keep a secret like that for too long.

Cheers
