Stick with a cub. The air cam is more of a toy, it’s more comparable to an ultralight. Fly a cub and a husky side by side and you won’t consider a husky anymore. If you want a newer model the Top Cub on wip 2100’s is a great plane. I just acquired one for a client who does instruction in it on Lake Tahoe at 6000’ with DA up to 9000-10000’ it’s still a screamer. Nothing compares to a cub for fun flying.

Not sure what your mission is, but if you want to take more than 2 people up, take a look at Maules versus the Cub.

I have time in both J-3 Cubs and in M-7 Maules. Love them both, but they each serve a completely different mission profile in my opinion.

And, not sure of you are planning on flying to the beach, but I was told taking a tube and fabric plane in salt is seriously verboten. Maybe someone has more experience with saltwater flying and can chime in (I'd like to know as well).

I already get Bring A Trailer’s daily emails! But first I need a bigger garage because it’s already filled with a 65 Alfa, 67 Eldorado, and 78 Fleetwood. My kids are just going to have to learn to be self-sufficient. Or learn to fly and drive.

I’ve got an AirCam, not on floats.

I love the airplane, but my only knock is that it is definitely NOT a cross country airplane.

Even with just wheels, I’m averaging less than 70 mph. So if you need to go any long distances, either get the Cub (any version) or plan for many hours in the air.

But having the second engine is a complete game changer. I routinely fly over Tampa Bay at 100’ agl, best wildlife spotting altitude is 500’ agl. The second engine (either wheels or floats) allows you to go places I would never take a SEL airplane.

If you plan the fly the AirCam in any cold or light rain weather, you will need the full canopy/cockpit enclosure. Even in Florida with 90dF surface temperatures, at higher altitudes, it is cold in the open cockpit.

Cub on floats in not going to be much faster than your aircam.
Is that 70 mph or 70 knots?
I though the aircam was a bit faster than that (85mph)
