Not me but father has at owned at least one 210 for 28 years now. Currently through Falcon using USAIG, ~$2600 (renewed August 2019), $150k hull, $1MM smooth, 2000hr+ retract, 1300hr+ 210, multi-engine instrument commercial rated.
It's gone down from 2018 but who knows what it will be at renewal 2020.

I’ll contact Falcon and report back for the benefit of the group. ...if only someone on BEECHtalk would have an idea of another common brand that has produced 3000+ very capable six seat single that meets the same criteria as the 210... hmmm
Saratoga?

To recap; I am a 220 hour IR PPL with HP endorsement and no RG time. Tom’s team with Airpower Insurance was phenomenal to work with and were able to provide two quotes for a Turbo 210 with hull value of $150k and $1 million liability. Both quotes were in the $6k/year range. One required 25 dual and the other 5 dual along with some solo time before hauling passengers.

I have a 75 210L in PHX and insure with Tom - $130k hull value $100k per seat limit for $2,500 a yr. 700hr PPl with Instrument rating.
I would have liked an A36, but they were out of my budget and I have a 1,525lb UL. If it fits, the 210 will carry it.
The spar AD is a non-issue - mine was fine and eddy current inspection was $300.

Before I saw the light and started emailing TJ about insurance, I got all mine through Avemco. They spouted off a couple of fun policies I thought you might enjoy:
(300TT, split between pa-32 and taildragger)
1) 210 insurance was >7500/yr for 150k hull value. Reason: Gear issues coupled with pricey high-performance engines were making them expensive to underwrite. As in, when you land gear-up, it's a big check for them to write.
2) No malibu insurance for anyone, ever. This one remains a mystery.
3) 100 hrs multi before a c340 or Duke, which they consider a "cabin-class pressurized twin." Your initial doesn't factor into that. This one is probably a smart call.
My advice for you is to look at the 55 baron (good examples for 70-100k) and turbo saratoga (~150k, 165 KTAS). If runway length is not a factor, you can get a great deal by doing a turbo T-tail Lance instead (<100k). Straight tail turbo lances (~135k) are rarer than hen's teeth but also an option. Hope this helps.
Best, -J

I appreciate the suggestions and help. I like the capabilities of the PA32 line but find myself wanting something faster and more nimble. Based on insurance and the fact 95% of my flying is myself and one passenger I think I’m going to try and hunt down a good Bonanza with a solid IFR setup.

Global insurance thru Travers: -about $2350/yr: 165k hull, 1 million-+2000 hrs, 1500 in T210. Went up about $600 this year. I don't believe it's the gear thats such an issue. Fuel filling and management is usually the culprit. Its a traveling machine and guys get into weather and fuel issues.....

Might be a function of your TT. I purchased a P210 a few months back, around 1.8% of Hull value for Hull + 1M. an SR-22T was slightly less, a Baron was slightly morea, and an A-36 was within an arms reach. For what its worth I have a "less than standard seat letter" on file, 3 passengers max. It didn't save much, maybe $500.
1500 TT, mostly jet time.
I love the 210, would love flying an A36 or SR-22 too. All have tradeoffs. If a 182 fits 85% of your flying, why not start there, or an SR-20? The only downside I see with a "step-up" aircraft is the sale, it seems like many sit on the market waiting for a buyer.

Just got a quote for $2300 for 210 ..I only put $80k hull on it and 1m liability..Aopa ...my Deb was $832 with $50k hull and 1 mil....FYI..if you have a relationship with an insurer, that helps I think...Avemco is a direct writer, Aopa is an agency..
