This was a panel topic at the SmallSat convention this week. It was said the count is currently around 150 wannabe rocket companies. I’ve previously seen numbers double that, but I believe they included now-defunct ventures.
Most of the smallsat market is in fact commercial with a bit of institutional thrown in. Not a ton of government in the arena that I see yet.
Doug’s “and others” is a long list. The amount of money being thrown around in the space sector these days is astonishing.
