I learned of this Monday afternoon and was sad to hear that things hadn't worked out with the new investors. I had hoped they would get something in place, but frankly, after reneging on their promised holiday pay for their employees, I personally don't feel the current owners have any place in aviation. What a disgraceful way to treat the people who give their heart and soul to make your company work.

We (Bison Aviation) hired their avionics manager and their chief inspector during the December furlough. When the factory opened back up I asked both of them what their plan was, knowing that they each had a long history with Mooney. I made it clear that I understood their position and that there would be no hard feelings or repercussions if they needed / wanted to go back. Both of them said they were sticking with us. I guess they had a pretty good idea what was coming.

I hate that the brand has gone through this so many times, but based on this latest round, I hope the current ownership gets out of aviation and a company that can manage the business and take care of the employees can step in.

I hate to say it but I think Mooney is done. There is just no demand for this too small airframe as Cirrus (the Home Depot of aircraft) has taken over with a better product, service locations and overall better owner experience. Sad though.

Apparently this time there is nobody left there to answer phones or make parts.

I hope someone tries again to at least keep parts production going.

That's scary. The parts business could easily proceed in a very profitable operation for 25+ years. Someone with business sense might be able to buy just that?

yeh, but what about the liability tail. Not sure how you separate that out.

I expect the liability exposure gets cut each bankrupty/sale since the company always emerges with a new name and address...

So a new owner starts with no liability for the fleet and only gets exposed when a new plane or part gets sold. At least that is what I hope!

Sounds like a group of owners bought it.

Either innovate or it will fail again.

Put an f'n parachute in that thing right away. Mooney Acclaim will sell like hotcakes.
Make it pressurized and Cirrus will be outta biziness.

Word on the street is they found a way to increase the useful load 500+lbs. And it's a retrofit that will be available for older airframes.

Bet a BRS is in the works too

500 pound useful load increase?? Did they remove the engine and make it a glider?

“Back when”... the average FAA weight person was 180lbs, the small Mooney cabin wasn’t so bad.

Cramped, difficult to work on Due to confined areas, lacking innovation, and expensive are difficult to overcome.

Maybe the biggest obstacle for someone with $800K for a new plane want’s to buy from a company they know will be in business down the road.

Not dissing the Mooney, though a passionate installed base can’t surmount unaddressed market conditions.

I just sold my Mooney. I want an Acclaim. If what you say is true, I'll be getting one!!!!

All I want is the chute.
