I do have a really good quality instructor and I love flying with him. I just see the value in SIM training too. I can honestly say it’s not crap and about ticking the box’s.

I have also had some crap in plane instructors so it’s a lot about the people. I mentioned the FSI facility I train at cause I think they have great instructors.

It seems to me that all the cool stuff Pilatus did to the PC12 just got trumped by Garmin. Autoland is a bigger step forward than larger windows, quieter props and KA350 speed in my opinion. Maybe Pilatus and Honeywell are working on Autoland? IS&S has an autothrottle for it already which seems to be a cornerstone of the capability.

I agree. I’ve also been saying for years that the SF50 is going to effect all airplane manufacturers. The SF50 delivers a lot of bang for the buck. I’d miss my lav.

But, this is a game changer by Garmin.

True but it also requires automated gear extension, brakes, flaps and a radar altimeter. And, for now, G3000.

Maybe with the switch to passenger focused messages on the displays you could direct passengers to deploy gear and flaps at the right time with some help text.

While I think the Garmin technology will enhance safety, I believe Pilatus focused their innovation in the right spots. There have been no PC12 losses due to pilot incapacitation or pressurization loss which are the two areas I see the Garmin autoland feature enhancing safety. Pilatus has lost airframes due to loss of control (the #1 cause of PC12 fatalities) and lack of prist. Both of these were addressed in their last round of improvements.

With the PC24, all of the right systems are in place for auto-land. The PC24 has autothrottles and a UMS that controls all of the electrical systems via electronic circuit breakers. Wouldn't surprise me of this UMS system made its way to the PC12 one of these days.

And most PC12' are used Charter ops with 2 pilots. Not many owner flown.
