This position will lead the technical development of the Dragonfly rotorcraft lander, in a similar manner as a spacecraft systems engineer, but with the additional complexity of the rotorcraft mobility subsystem. The Lander Systems Engineer (LSE) serves as the principal technical lead of the Dragonfly lander responsible to the Spacecraft Manager. The LSE will also provide the interface between the Lander and the Spacecraft and Mission System Engineering Teams.
The LSE is delegated (by the Spacecraft Manager) technical responsibility for the development and delivery of the Lander. They will work closely with the Lockheed Martin Chief Systems Engineer (LMCSE), who is responsible for developing and delivering the Dragonfly Cruise Stage and Aeroshell assembly. Both report to the Spacecraft System Engineer and the Spacecraft Manager to ensure mission success. The LSE is responsible for flowing requirements and tasking to the Lander subsystem leads, and influences the other areas of the engineering team that have direct effect on Lander development. Specific tasks of the LSE include but are not limited to:
Work closely with the Spacecraft Manager to cost and schedule baselines.
Responsible for managing the Lander technical (functional and physical) baselines.
Develop the Lander Requirements Document and define requirements allocated to Lander subsystems including interface and environmental requirements.
Work with the LM Chief System engineer (LMCSE), especially on interfaces between the spacecraft elements involving the Lander.
Identify and lead trade efforts that have impact across Lander subsystems.
Identify and review trade efforts conducted within subsystems.
Develop Lander ICDs.
Lead meetings with Lander subsystem lead engineers.
Support project risk management by identifying Lander risks and developing mitigation approaches. Support development of FMEA and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) of Lander design to establish formal design risks.
Assist in the development and management of flight system schedule and cost.
Manage Lander resources.
Work with the Mission and Spacecraft Systems Engineers on the overall verification plan.
Work with the Integration and Test Lead to develop Lander Test Plans. Oversee the development of Lander-Level Test Procedures.
Review results of Lander subsystem- and element-level testing and analysis to ensure Lander requirements are met.
Provide the Spacecraft Systems Engineer certification of Lander readiness to launch.

A Master's degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent with a minimum of 15 years professional engineering experience
At least 10 years of experience in the development of spacecraft systems and/or subsystems
At least 5 years of experience successfully leading technical team(s)
Demonstrated strong written and oral communications skill
Demonstrated technical knowledge of mission-level systems and all contained subsystems
Proven leadership and technical management
