A decent amount of tailwinds on this route, too. This is not a sure leg on any given day, and going back will require a stop on most days.

Your right buddy on the reserves but you could pull it back about 1-2% and get you to 900lbs. My purpose was to show the range of the S2 vs the newer planes. The 3+ and 4 actually are short on reserves as well.

Last week I was training with a guy that operates two Super S2s out of Houston if you interested in picking his brain.

Your right buddy on the reserves but you could pull it back about 1-2% and get you to 900lbs. My purpose was to show the range of the S2 vs the newer planes. The 3+ and 4 actually are short on reserves as well.

I found one of those mine shafts, quite by accident, turns out they go straight down... guess I thought it was like the movies with a rail and a cart.

Wished I had the gear to explore... probably pretty interesting at the bottom.

The big mine shafts are shocking. I was walking a property near me that was for sale a few years ago and found a 50ft wide hole, partially covered with some steel. It was so deep that my streamlight flashlight could not light up the bottom.

Then it hit me that I was standing on the edge of a 50ft by maybe 400ft deep hole in the desert on a 1,000 acre property, no cell coverage and only one other person within 15 miles. Thought maybe it was time to head back.

The one I found was probably 6 or 8 foot across, straight down, with just an old timber across it. It was broad daylight and I could have easily slid down the steep side to the opening, made me wonder about those who move through there at night. We had a 100' rope that we secured to a flashlight and lowered down, we didn't reach the bottom nor could we see it.

This was south of Sierra Blanca on the Equipment Pass Ranch... or at least that is what I remember the name to be.

On that trip we drove down as far south as we could, came to a place on the border that looked like an Oasis... manicured lawns (big deal there), well kept buildings and structures... searching the web, which we didn't have back then, reveals the site... I gather it is some type of hot springs. Back in the 80's we were concerned that we had found some drug lord's estate... so we hightailed it out of there!

Big Bend is a wild area. You could literally spend a year exploring dirt roads and open spaces and not see everything.

There is a spot 25 miles from anything with a completely intact bar that someone maintains. It is so far out that the owner supplies drinks self serve for free if you can find your way there.

I have no idea know who owns it.

I posted this on another thread, but figured it belonged here as well.

Seems to be time for an update. Nothing is slowing down, it is as busy as ever. We just closed a gorgeous C90A yesterday and Kim at Powell was relieved we waited until Thursday because she was slammed and couldn't get it done Wednesday... this has rarely happened, even at the end of the year.

Our challenge right now is finding nice airplanes... it is taking 3 -6 months instead of 30 - 60 days. We use to find the best four or five airplanes and then pick the best deal... now we watch every airplane that might meet our criteria and pounce on the nice one like a rabid spider monkey if the owner even thinks about selling it. Ok, it's more subtle than that, but you get the point.

I'm not sure what the numbers will be at year end, there's a lot of frustrated shoppers out there, so the actual airplanes getting sold may in fact be down. However, it is not lack of demand, it is lack of nice airplanes that are priced right.

I'm actually concerned that we may reach the point where there are simply no exceptional airplanes for sale.
