The longer version of the film they show in safety school shows quite a few rolls before the canopy finally leaves and they both get out. Of course, even with both wings on you could roll an A-4 @ 720/sec so several rolls don't take long!

About 10 years ago, I went out to the Navy Test Pilot School at Pax River for an orientation flight. I mentioned this mishap, and the pilot I was working with said "follow me". We walked down to the hangar and he introduced me to the photographer that was in the back of the Scooter. Yep... he was still working there!
