Outstanding Bill! 1,800nm in a C182! Holy smokes Man!! That return flight sounds like an absolute nightmare. I’ve had my fair share of moderate turbulence in a C182 as well.
No fun...

My longest flight in a piston (PA46 Mirage) was Ogden UT (outside Salt Lake) to Atlanta (1490 nm). With standard tanks. Easier and even faster than flying commercial hub to hub on Delta, counting suboptimal airports for my travel, security and ground transportation. Friends don't let friends fly commercial :-)

Of course, at the extremes of light plane distance flying we all need to admire Bill Harrelson. For a quick introduction to some of his adventures see https://youtu.be/Ko6aNLp0xuc

I think he is talking at Oshkosh in a few weeks—Tuesday at 10.
https://www.eaa.org/eaa/event/Over_Both ... 837692C88C

I have heard him speak—he is a tremendous presenter. And a wonderfully nice person. As is his (also a retired airline pilot) Sue. I remember his talking about a coast-to-coast and back again non-stop shake-down flight. Very humorous. And his 38 hour flight Guam to Florida is nothing to sneeze at.

So, the best in the world we all just sit back and admire. But even our non-specialized planes serve our more pedestrian needs tremendously well.

I cannot compete with Bill Harrelson, nor with Bill Compton, a BT member and long-range expert. But for what it's worth, below was my longest flight in my A36TN, flown using a set of Frank Haile tip tanks (aka "Dolly Partons"), from PHOG to KSJC in 12 hours 41 minutes. Carried 234 gallons usable and burned 199 gallons. Flew 2092nm according to the inReach tracker, mostly at 15,000'.

Indeed!

The flight I posted earlier: Townsville to Broome, in Australia was about 9 hrs flying in the V35B, 11 hrs traveling time with 2 x food and fuel stops, and a minimum of 13 hrs with Qantas (if they managed to run on time!).

My longest is 19N (southern NJ) to KBEC (Beech Field near Wichita) westbound against headwinds, for the ABS Convention some years back. 1,100 NM with IFR routing around Philadelphia. 8 hours, hand flown with a wing leveler. I carry 120 gallons (supposedly 114 useable), burned 101 gallons.

I flew back in a little over 6 hours.

The wife and I just completed our longest non-stop. Norfolk, NE (KOFK) to Jacksonville, FL (KCRG). We are both impressed with the capability of these airplanes.

Trip Stats:
1039NM Direct routing received, 2 small deviations for weather
15,000 cursing altitude, 29.9" MP / 2500 RPM, 16.3GPH
5H38MIN flight time
5H51MIN engine start to engine stop.

Landed with 20 gallons usable according to the JPI.

I just completed my longest last weekend. 870 miles in 4.4 hours. TN A36 was north of 190 ktas at 17,500 burning under 16 GPH. LOP once above the MEAs to save fuel and fuel was a non-factor. I have 104 usable (15 gal BDS tips) and landed with 25 gallons on board. Flight time would have been faster if I didn't have to descend at one point to get past some afternoon buildups then climb back up to 17.5. I also descended way too soon coming back into Dallas concerned about some afternoon clouds. I could have high a lot longer then bomb into DFW instead of flying the last 75 miles at 7500.

Overall the flight was a piece of cake. Trout fishing in the morning, made it home for dinner with the kids.

TAS varied from about 191-197 depending on the up drafts / down drafts. 197 ground speed average over 4.4 hours. I'll take it.

Don,
What type of Pulse Oximeter are you using? Is it wearable? I'm picturing having to keep something clipped to my fingertip while I fly for 6+ hours...

John,

It's a wrist-worn device with a finger probe that I put on my left pinky finger. Completely out of the way and doesn't interfere with my flying.

You can pick one up on Amazon here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LK ... g=btalk-20

I bought one of these at Don's suggestion. It's a great addition to the cockpit- much more comfortable than one of the finger units, albeit significantly more expensive.

YMM YQT. 938nm. Just under 5 hrs. With decent tail wind. Landed with over an hour reserve.
Bladder almost busted. Now have a device for that but the acrobatics involved in the front of a Baron may be interesting.

1009 NM, KVGT to KTYR at FL170 in a B36TC (North Vegas to east TX). Took 5.1 hrs. Did I mention the 51k tailwind for part of the flight? Made the 7 hr flight time to get there (with one fueling stop) worth it.

I still have yet to break 6 hours in my Mooney. To date my longest flight was KHYI (San Marcos, TX) to KTDF (Person Co, NC) 1024 nautical miles, 5 hours 10 min, 52 gal used.
