Just trying to get to the right general place; I have a friend with an older one that is purchasing another plane. Would welcome suggestions as to how to handle the sale of the old 737. I'm not acting as a broker. Just trying to help.

Thanks.

Developing countries have a thirst for 737s that cannot be satisfied by the supply. Cannot recall where I read it, but it makes sense given world economy, wealth, and demand for travel.

Just checked with them and they are receptive to working with a broker if he or she has experience in this type of plane. I just don't know anyone doing older commercial jets.

The owner just had someone referred to him. So, I'll wait to hear more before bothering anyone anymore.

Thanks.

This one has been listed since July 2018 (at least that was when I first saw it).

https://www.controller.com/listings/air ... 00492&if=1

I guess OK Consultants has experience listing a 737, if not selling one.

Less than the price of a new Cirrus Vision...

The costs to own and operate something like that must be just comically ridiculous.

I'm not so sure about that. There was a privately owned -200 at our airport that languished for years. It finally left in dumpsters after the interior, engines, and APU were removed. Broke it up with big saws and a tractor.

Any idea of what it would cost? If a G5 is $7500 per hour to operate, is this one $15K?

Only a thousand GPH for fuel. Any plenty of parts available on ebay and junkyards. Do your own wrench turning and it is actually reasonable. Forget those puny Citation 501 disposable jets, be a Seven Three Big Dog!

Michael T will get you your type in a weekend.

Crew and caviar not included...

These are the basic fixed costs. Parts are 5 cents on the dollar. For example, a new windshield is $3,500. If I was an oil sheik I would definitely get one!

I go to Joplin every so often and see this on the ramp. I keep waiting to find out what the story is on it - does anyone know?

No value in a JT8D powered B737 anymore. The engines are subject to an AD that requires a shop visit every 8 years to the tune of $500k or so each. There are so many scrapped out these days event parting it out is not an economical option realistically.
