Beautiful airplane, but isn’t there a different place for selling things.

Yep, put it here Bob: viewforum.php?f=43

It sure is beautiful. 303s are rare birds, it should sell quick.

What's the useful load?

Robert I see you replaced the autopilot. Do you happen to still have the Turn and Bank indicator from the T303 with the Yaw damper indicator built in? P/N G-840A

Nice plane. Don’t know anything about a 303 but it has me wanting to research them now.

The T303 is a nice plane. There aren't many around and those that are around are seldom for sale. It is a cabin class, unpressurized twin that competes in the Baron 58 class. In interior space and comfort it is far superior. They have Continental TSIO-520-AE derated to 250 HP each, and a max gross of 5150 lbs. Cruise speeds are similar to the Barons, but they often weigh a lot due to options, so payload with full fuel (155 gallons) is limited but as in the case of this plane not terribly so. You just have to trade range for payload as with most planes. Being turbocharged it can fly in the flight levels, which can get you some of that range back. Trailing link mains make you a hero on every landing. I don't recall much about the handling, but it was a good flying plane. I got my ME in one. If I could have found one at the right price at the time I was shopping I'd have bought it.

That is a really nice piece you've got there. Honestly, I'd think you might ask a tad more for it. Its low time, rare & a lot of bang for the buck.

Close to my '78 Turbo F Aztec as well; roomy cabin / Lyc 250hp / 5200#gw

Aztec has a bit more UL and more gas available (180 gal / which it always needs)

BTW, what kind of speed and fuel burn do you see mid-teens at 65%hp?

Good luck!

Mark

I always liked these. The Cessna version of the Twin Bonanza.

Only faster, less thirsty, and has an autopilot ;)

It is however a kilometer or two narrower

Thx John, I made the mistake already of showing the wife and she likes it for the easy access getting in and out. Being rare, how are parts availability?

I had a 303 for the last eight years. I loved it. Put 800 hours on it. I’ll address a couple points.

I sold mine two weeks ago. Mine sold for $320K. The plane in this post is priced appropriately.

I never had a problem getting parts. Lots of things are available from Cessna. Some things I had to go to salvage companies. I tend to hoard parts - so I still have an extensive inventory that I’ll be selling.

The only time you’re really in a pickle is if you have need a big airframe part. Someone had a bird strike at the nacelle/leading edge junction. Getting parts for that was very difficult for that guy.

Handling is wonderful. Great short field performer. Nice control harmony. Easy to land.

Cessna designed this plane to be maintained. An oil change requires turn two 1/4-turn fasteners to open a hinged panel. Oil drain is right there as is the filter. Nose baggage compartment has a hinged panel in the floor, two 1/4-turn fasteners, that opens to a great avionics bay.

You want to balance the engines and props well. To get the weight down, Continental removed some/all of the crankshaft counterweights so these engines are a little more prone to vibration.

Max ramp weight is 5175. Most people forget to use that as their max gross so they give up useful load.

For baron fuel burns you get about 10-15 knots less TAS. I flew 180 KTAS at 8000 three weeks ago burning 14.8/side.

The S-tec 3100 is approved in this plane.

The ONLY reason I sold mine was because our mission changed. Now I need something that can go 1000NM in four hours.

Best wishes,

Zeke

Zeke has you covered on the above. WRT speed vs fuel I would point out that the 303 can climb into the twenties where I would assume that the TAS would be higher and fuel flows lower, so while short hops would favor the Baron, longer trips may well be more efficient in the Crusader provided that you’re good with using oxygen. I do not have a POH handy but I’ll bet a quick google search, or a polite request to the OP, will get you performance charts at altitude.
