Yes I pulled it, No I can’t do yours as I don’t have insurance for maintenance.

I got a reference from Mark H for the guy that did his, but he’s up in the UP, which is difficult if he can’t do it while I wait. There’s no commercial service up there, as far as I can tell.
I also know of a guy in Pennsylvania and a possible in Arkansas. The best guy close to home doesn’t want to work on Cessnas. Or maybe he just doesn’t want to work with me!
It would be really great to find someone who’s seen the jack screws and trim system before, and who’s located in a place that’s easily accessible from Indianapolis.
Ideas? Delta flys to KIMT from KMSP. Stay with me while it is being inspected. We can fly mine on floats. Get you a ASES.

Another one to consider is Airways Aviation in Grand Rapids Minnesota. Great town to visit lots of lakes and cool places.

Ideas? "My Guy" was in Indiana last week doing some work on an Extra. If he is still there, he might do it for you. I'll text him now. Jg

Username Protected wrote: Thought I would post getting my Skywagon back in the air after a 7 month hiatus. I had the ECi AD'd cylinders and originally planned for a TOP overhaul but as it turned out my TS O520 UTS had ECi cylinders that were glued to the case with some type of adhesive. RAM made the engine back in 2008 and obviously screwed up. My IA thought it would be best to have an IRAN inspection and ultimately I went full overhaul due to economics. I have about 20 hours on the new engine. I have changed the oil twice. Once after 5 hours then next one at 19 hours. Oil consumption is minimal now. Engine is running strong, cool, and fast. I feel like I picked up 20 HP. Climbs better and cruises a bit faster now - close to 153 KTAS - not Bonanza fast but damn fast for a Skywaon with 8.5s. I am still running it hard but I believe the break in is mostly complete. The overhaul seemed to take forever. Part shortages due to supply chain issues across the country seem to be effecting every aspect of our economy. My dog got to ride along today for the first time too and was also pretty stoked. Another satisfied customer! Very nice.

Knock wood - everything is working out so far. My 58 180A has been one mess after another over 14 years, but I have never regretted putting money into the airplane. Especially deciding to go with a glass cockpit - worth every penny. The engine work was done locally at Premier Aircraft - KTTD. Jim the owner is very meticulous but also a bit on the slow side. He did give a great price - just under 33K in total for an overhauled O520. This did not include mags or carb but did include a new case, crankshaft, and 6 superior cylinders. I feel like I am now in the "Skywagon Elite" with the money I have in this airplane.

I wound up having it done at Beegles. The flights out and back were wonderful, and helped me get used to the new panel stuff. And the time spent at Beegles was MOST educational…
We’ll probably do the next one here, but I’m glad I had the experts do the first one. Nice to hear your back in the air Stuart! Do you walk wide circles around the tires now? Murray

Actually, my airplane is still down for annual. Furthermore, I had to take Valium for a procedure a couple of days ago, so I'm not airworthy for 10 days after that. I'm hoping to fly next weekend.
The Beegles flight was in September. It was just lovely both ways. If I'd thought about it, I could've made the Greeley - Indianapolis trip nonstop. I didn't try, because it didn't cross my mind that it was possible. Too bad; it would've made a good story. That was 9/25. Then I decided to change the oil the following weekend, on 10/2. When I had my crazy fall, there was an oil can sticking up from the filler neck. Hardly able to breathe, I thought "crap. That's not going to get finished today!"

Nice looking plane. Is that a 550? if so what are you getting for TAS? I was thinking about adding the cuffs to my struts.
