These are all good options and I would add to the list Air Impressions in Waco, TX. They work all day every work day of the year on twin Cessnas doing annuals and pre-buys. Air Impressions Website Link. Jeff Garrett has always done a good job for us. They performed the prebuy which we rolled into an annual when we bought our 421C and after using several other shops the first few years I flew all the way back to Waco, TX from NC the last two years in a row for our Annual at Air Impressions.

I do have one comment/concern that may not be popular: I would be very leery as an aircraft seller having my aircraft flown 3 hours plus away from my home for a prebuy. I thought it was always more common to agree on a prebuy shop within an hour of the aircraft's current location (maybe 1.5 hours tops).

Was any of this discussed in the current 90% agreement?

I’d recommend Kubick Aviation in Iron Mountain, MI (KINT). They maintain our 441, Hagen’s 310, Jane a 441 and 340 on their certificate, and the guys on the floor probably more experience with GTSIO’s than anyone in the country.

I’ve flown airplanes maintained by them for 23 years. They are thorough, reasonable priced and honest and will be up front with you on the work they are doing.

Looks interesting, thanks for the suggestion. Where in the world would I fly the owner out to return back to UT! Doesn't look like there are any major airports around!

Delta flies right out of Iron Mountain, or 40 miles away out of Escanaba (KESC) or American is not too far north in Marquette (KSAW). Otherwise, Green Bay is about two hours away.

with the exception that I'd allow it, at a shop I've been to. For example, DFW Aero is half way across the country, but having been there, I'd take my 340 there for a pre-buy.

(BTW, I'm selling my 340 to upgrade...)

Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions, it's very appreciated. I ended up scheduling with Keith Hetrick in Topeka, KS. Had a few lengthy discussions with him setting it up and it was obvious he knows what he's doing! Clearly a busy market out there with lots going on.

Juan at Aero Mechanix was extremely friendly and did help all he could over the phone, they are about 6 weeks out to schedule work. TAS... no call back, pretty crummy given their reputation.

Zach,

For the 12 years I owned my 421, I was a customer of TAS. While TAS should return your call, it is understandable that a business with excess demand would focus on taking care of existing customers. I was in your shoes once - it took me a while to work my way onto the TAS schedule after I bought my plane.

If you are looking for another option in NW Ohio, try Steve Fortner at Bryan, OH (0G6). He is a Twin Cessna specialist: very detailed, careful, knowledgeable, and thorough.

Respectfully, I don’t think it’s understandable. Not talking about getting on their schedule, that’s my problem, not theirs. A lack of response after 5 days is not good for (future) business. That is, assuming the woman ‘in charge of scheduling’ who’s voice mail they put me into isn’t on the shop floor wrenching.

Regardless, no problem. I have it figured out and I’m sure TAS is as great of a shop as everyone claims.

Also, I did speak with Steve and will work with him in the future. He also was weeks out, which is a great thing!

If it was Marla, that's who you wanted to talk to. When I was looking for a prebuy 3 years ago, TAS said they would take me in 3 months. I've heard their schedule is booked out 12-24 months. This weekend (and the last few days) is the Twin Cessna Flyers Convention; I'm sure Tony is there.
