I've trained with PL21 in CJ's. Fly it in CL30's, but the PL21 in the CL30's is a bit different than the PL-21 in the CJ's. PL21 works fine. Does good job. Getting looooooooong in the tooth though.
The CJ4 with Garmin in it makes for a modern airplane with SPPR, Elec. Windshield heat. externally serviced lav. Good range, good performance.

Single pilot. Double club. Range to reach Honolulu from CA with 4 passengers, baggage, and two crew, against a 100 knot headwind. Operate from <4,000' runway at MGTOW at ISA +30F. 450+ kts high speed cruise. 400+ kts long range cruise. G3000 <6,000' cabin at FL45. And a cherry on top.

. See. That’s what I think they need with the next CJ. A game changer. Or else the 300 (and maybe the PC24) just keep eating their lunch. Seems to be quite the engineering hurdle though. But today’s systems and avionics it seems like it should be doable. And yeah, if it takes 51 to do it, well it takes 51 to do it. JC must be looking pretty hard at that G5000 XLS. Charter pilots love the XLS.

Do you think folks want to be in that diameter (4.8' tall) cabin for 5-6 hours?
BED-SJC in that small of a plane just sounds painful, let alone bucking headwinds to Hawaii.
I would be curious what the average stage length for a CJ4 trip is.
*Disclaimer, all of this is from a spoiled super-midsize bizjet pilot. I love getting out of my seat, standing up in the galley, making an espresso, while checking Yelp on my phone for what restaurant I want to eat at that night.

The consistent message and thoughts on the CJ5, is that Textron is not limited by design themselves, but by the engine makers. There isn't an engine that provides them anything better than what is already out there.
