Don't worry. If Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her cohorts had their way we could trash ALL our planes (and cars) in 10 years:

".....a goal of shifting the nation to 100 percent “clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources,” within 10 years “to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers.”

I recall this life limit stuff being a "somewhat recent" Part 23 requirement.

The mfr is required to have a life limit, therefore they make an educated guess. When the life limit is reached, should the mfr care to spend the money amd jump thru the hoops, they can extend it. If the mfr chooses not to, perfectly serviceable "parts" are swapped out for younger parts.

I believe (hope) this is being addressed in the Part 23 rewrite.

I have near zero actual knowledge of this; just passing interest. I hope someone who knows affirms or corrects what I've written.

This is correct... educated guess is a little off, but all the analysis in the world can still miss some factor here or there, making any life limit still prone to statistical error. If Cirrus had enough airframes reaching service life limits before they’d calculated or expected, they can issue whatever Service Life Extension Program they feel like validating. I’ve been intimately involved with one aircraft SLEP already in my career.

Look at the bright side - We won't hit a cow on the runways in the US and the deer population is likely going to suffer since us omnivores will want the occasional bite of red meat. Then again, we may get that from overseas on the side market. That leaves the occasional turkey, elk, and moose.

The even brighter side: It won't matter since we won't be able to afford our fossil fuel burning toys because we're all going to be paying the bill for the 90% who'll be perfectly content living on the guaranteed minimum income and smoking weed all day.

And how, exactly will that red meat get here from overseas? Not on anything that burns fossil fuels.

A clipper, of course. Under optimal conditions, you can cross the Atlantic under 15 days.

Supposedly via rail according to their proposal.

Better brush up on old knowledge of the tradewinds and the doldrums!
