Not a Beech, but thought it'd be fun to watch the progress. Customer delivered this incomplete build to us Monday. It'll be a "in our spare time" project. It is a 70% scale replica of the P-51. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_S-51D_MustangOur customer already has the powerplant, and it'll be supercharged. https://www.chevrolet.com/performance/c ... zz-572-620Attachment: Stewart S51 Mustang1.JPG Attachment: Stewart S51 Mustang2.JPG Attachment: Stewart S51 Mustang3.JPG

Username Protected wrote: http://www.epi-eng.com/propeller_reduction_technology/implementation_overview.htm You're requesting TMI Jon, too much. Will advise later, but the reduction gearbox is already married to the power plant. Not in my hangar. I'm just doing the airframe work.

I have followed the S-51 since 1994 when it came out. Almost bought this completed one a couple years ago that is in Tennessee, but it had the non hardened landing gear (a mistake made on many of the kits) and several have had gear collapses.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhFraPV340IIt is still for sale, has been for at least 15 years. Most guys building them are retired engineers or machine shop owners, as most kits were delivered from the factory missing many parts and have to be made individually. Most kit build times have exceeded well past 20 years. Harry in Bartow is the man to see on these builds, as previously mentioned. This one went to England for a few months then was crashed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M02Sy2HxeRQAnd the best one flying is in Visalia, Ca. built by Rod Bowers and test flow by Elliott Seguin. It's supercharged and pretty awesome. Elliott posted a lot of the test flight vids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAogzS0AowQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rwYZJaFnkU&t=298sThere is also an old S51 sales video on youtube as well when the plane was unveiled at Oshkosh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tURCGSdcEK8Very ambitious build, which is why most kits have changed hands several times and are never finished. Once someone start digging into one, finds out that plans are incomplete, a lot of parts have to be machined individually, there is really no support other than a Yahoo group (which I would look into if I was building) and Bill Hudgens who has been trying to bring the kit back to market and owns S-51 "Beautiful Doll" which has flown at Reno, the reality of the project hits that it's not a quick build. It's not even a long build. Kudos to whoever brought it to you to be professionally built, it is closer to building a real P-51 without all the parts than it is to building a Titan T-51. Be fun to watch you guys tackle it. This polished one is being built by a machine shop owner in Houston for the last 20 odd years. A lot of attention to detail and will be supercharged as well. PM me if you need Bill Hudgen's or Harry Stenger's phone numbers or emails, I still have them I believe. They can definitely be a huge help and I am sure Bill knows the kit that you have there.
