I think the current factory overhaul is right at $49k but I believe it includes all accessories (maybe even the exhaust??).


So Lycoming is roughly twice the cost of Continental?!
Anybody have a reasonable explanation of why?
I guess one could argue that most Lycomings don’t need new tops every 500 hours or so but what else am I missing?

The Lycoming has two turbos and to 'turbo transition' pieces, that may drive part of the cost difference. For some reason the higher powered turbo Lycomings in the Malibu and the Navajo are silly expensive to overhaul.

I don’t think it has anything to do with model. When I compare the two manufacturers Continental is about half the cost of Lycoming per hp.
Just wondering why.

I don't believe that is correct outside of a few turbo engines. 260-280hp IO540 and IO520 variants are about the same.

I’ve looked at your TB-20 a couple times over in the Peddler Talk forum on numerous occasions. It’s seems to be quite a nice plane. I figured you were “stepping up”, but WOW!
